Gazette OnIowa podcast

This was a good podcast to listen to as well.

I thought one of the more interesting aspects was some inside knowledge on Brian Ferentz. Hearing that the players really like him makes me reconsider if he might be good for this program. The disappointment with KF and the o-line play soured me on BF this year. Some of this might be our talent level is simply down and we need to bring in more young blood and/or established recruiters.

I also hope they do not can Levar Woods due to the play of our LB's as he is young and we need youthful coaching and energy in this program.

Funny that last year with 3 different 3-year senior starting LB's playing, Lavar Woods and Jim Ried looked brilliant.

Now that the 3 LB's graduated, now Woods and Ried are idiots.

Good point guffus. Perspective/context are important. Yes?

Just as important... does "guffus" sound like "fluffus" or "spoofus"

The OnIowa guys didn't say such a thing about them. They did say that there was a talent limitation at LB, but the coaches sure didn't seem to get much value out of the talent that was there.

Reid and Woods know what they are doing. Reid has been around a long time in coaching and Woods had more then just a cup of coffee in the NFL and has been coaching for awhile now. I think they are a great pair at coaching the game. But how much blame is at their feet in the recruiting/talent development of the kids there? Alston was in program what 4 or 5 yrs and he sure wasn't a difference maker out there. Spearman in his 2nd yr looked lost and overwhelmed out there. The other spot due to Perry not playing very good then getting hurt was a revolving door with Bower and Jewell getting reps that they weren't ready for. Now Jewell played alot of Spearmans spot too. I'm not saying this to pile on against those coaches cause I like em and don't think it's all their fault. I think its more along the lack of talent and them developing

Didn't listen but just reading the notes.... I love the idea of getting rid of Greg Davis and Bobby Kennedy.
