Gameday Ripping The Hawks

They just said at the Nebraska half that if Iowa wins out, including the BTCG against OSU, their wins wouldn't be better than a 1-loss Pac12 champion. Never mind that Iowa beat the team that will have beaten that 1-loss champ by 30. Also said the Hawkeye SOS is worst in the country. Both are lies.

What if it was Wisconsin? I don't get the media hit job going on right now. It's like the CNBC republican debate question team is writing the ****** against the Hawks.

These guys are like Ron Burgundy - they'll read anything you put on the teleprompter.

Edit; scrip t is a dirty word?

Yes, because it is possible with the software that runs this site to include a $cript in an answer that can hack the server and bring it down, or worse, make it a zombie to send out all kinds of malware.

Tonite on ESPN....

They were showing Top 20 scores and the crawl after the Iowa score mentioned Iowa's sputtering offense....that was the ONLY note on the crawl. Next was the Okie St. score followed by a crawl that touted their high offensive output for the game. I really could see Iowa going 13-0 and getting left out....all of as sudden we will hear from EVERY talking head how sluggish OSU has been all season.

Do they even play defense in the Big XII?

That 1 loss Stanford team is struggling right now against WSU.

I get the disrespect to a point considering Iowa's performance over the last several years; we haven't exactly been relevant nationally. But those guys took it over the top in my opinion. I'm as surprised as anyone at the way this season has went so far, I had them at 7-5 or 6-6 this year so they've been more than a mildly pleasant surprise to me. I'm not really going to worry about what the brainless talking heads on ESPN say (remember this is the network that gives a show to Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless). I'm just going to enjoy the ride for the rest of this season.

This is our heading on ESPN

[h=1]No. 10 Iowa stays perfect with less-than-perfect victory over Maryland[/h]
Other schools giving up 40-50+ points but managing to win, get no headlines like this....this is total BS!!!

The operative word here, folks, is "conundrum," as we were repeatedly reminded Saturday afternoon. We are a conundrum.

synonyms:problem, difficult question, difficulty, quandary, dilemma; informalposer
    "the conundrums facing policy-makers"

    • a question asked for amusement, typically one with a pun in its answer; a riddle.
      synonyms:riddle, puzzle, word game; informalbrainteaser
      "Rod enjoyed conundrums and crosswords"

Iowa is not a problem nor a difficulty. They clearly see us as posers. We are now just a term tossed around for amusement. What we are is an undefeated Power 5 team that is in their face and not going away. Deal with it.

The Iowa ripping made a lot more sense in 2009 when we barely beat Northern Iowa and Arkansas State. It makes no sense this year. The strength of schedule is fine we just haven't really beat any teams with a name. Us being ranked behind Notre Dame, who has a loss and whose best win is Navy (okay, maybe it will be Temple) and Stanford who lost to team we clobbered is stupid.

There's a certain level of disrespect the Big Ten gets nationally that isn't really deserved anymore, it's based off of preconceptions they had a few years ago. Things like Northwestern scoring more points on Minnesota than TCU should matter but it doesn't.

None of it matters though. There is no way that an undefeated Iowa (who I'm pretty certain would be guaranteed to be one of 4 undefeated power 5 teams if it happened no matter what since TCU and Baylor play each other and we would eliminate Michigan State or Ohio State from being undefeated should we go undefeated) who beats the number one team in the country, if Ohio State, or who beats what would likely be a top 5 team in Michigan State, gets left out. If they do than the playoff system is pretty useless.

Not useless....just needs to expand to eight teams. Seed them, and give the higher seed a first-round home game.

And I agree with 2009....the pundits didn't know what to do with us and couldn't wait for us to lose so they didn't have to deal with us.

Same holds for 2015.

Hopefully they put these clips, headlines and commentaries on a constant loop on the TV's at the Iowa Football Complex.

Let the players see how disrespected they are by the "Experts". Let that fuel them to keep proving everyone wrong!

Add Kevin Carter to the idiot column. He just said that even if Iowa runs the table and wins the BIG 10 championship that a 1 loss PAC 12 team like Stanford might get in over us. ESPN has a love for Stanford that I can't understand. We destroyed the team that beat them.

The first step is to get into the big ten champ game... which we never have before.

I'm not really worried about the playoffs at this moment.

If we do somehow make it undefeated do the playoffs and beat OSU then we got a great shot... but that's a gigantic if.

It's just comical at this point. Everyone is hoping iowa loses...espn especially.

Somehow these talking heads love Memphis because they beat an average Ole Miss team but they hate everything iowa has ever done

What gets me is Stanford with a loss to NW and almost losing to WSU, thanks to the officiating, will still be ranked 8th.. When Michigan at 1 loss beat NW the media had them in the playoff talk lol. Let's say Iowa goes to Indy ranked 6th and lose to a #1 OSU I'd be willing to bet we drop out of the top 12. It makes no sense.

I'm going to put some faith in Jim Delaney. IF Iowa wins their next 2 games, I think there will be some behind the scenes efforts to boost Iowa. Maybe some talking heads and writers defending them.

It's way too early to do this, but it's kind of interesting to look at some of the members of the selection committee. They are supposed to be impartial, but everyone is human. Would Tom Osborne have more "allegiance" to the BIG or Big12? How about Tyrone Willingham weighing the merits of Stanford (his first major coaching job) or Notre Dame (who fired him after 3 seasons)?

Some Iowa fans can be big whiners when they feel slighted...they complain out loud to them "what about Iowa, what about us...we're being slighted"....

well duh, these guys get sick of the vocal minority and take pleasure in dissing the Hawks cause they know it will get our fan base's panties rolled in a bunch. Which in turn creates more eyeballs on their shows, bringing on more whining...We can sometimes be a sensitive fan base (they have us pegged). It is " fun" for them to slight the Hawks knowing that...

...But keep in mind, they ARE talking about us, we ARE in the conversation, we ARE relevant to the football talk shows...Just like a first time TD run, ACT like we've been here before ('cause we have)...the respect will come, the main thing is to just KEEP on WINNING!!

You can't talk about how tough their "future" schedule is. They could lose all of the tough games on that schedule. What difference would it make if they finished 9-3? It's very similar to Iowa finishing 7-5 but losing to every team with a winning record. Without their starting QB, they could very well lose 3 games to come.

They'd get the "Best Team Without a Healthy Starting QB" award.

Most of the time when people rip on Iowa's schedule, they've been focusing on the last five games. Iowa's SOS coming into today was solid, but everyone knew it was going to plummet down the stretch, and that's what the pundits have focused on. If they're going to focus on the rest of the schedule for Iowa, it's only fair that they look at the future schedule for the top contenders, too.

If Baylor goes undefeated, their SOS down the stretch could easily trump Iowa's. All of these arguments are made with the assumption that the contenders win out, because if they don't, they're out anyway.

Wrong. The talking horses have been talking about our WHOLE schedule. There have been, "They haven't played ANYbody" droolings already. The crap they have spouted had NOTHING to do with future schedule. That narrative didn't change until they were called out on it.
