Gameday Ripping The Hawks

Add Kevin Carter to the idiot column. He just said that even if Iowa runs the table and wins the BIG 10 championship that a 1 loss PAC 12 team like Stanford might get in over us. ESPN has a love for Stanford that I can't understand. We destroyed the team that beat them.

This proves that ESPN is just the homer channel of the SEC. Even Herbbie is part of the SEC...When Iowa wins today, they deserve Gameday but who the hell would want them now.

I swear some of you watch ESPN and Gameday just so you can hear these "idiot talking heads" bash Iowa and come here to discuss it. There is a superior pregame show and network that airs mostly positive and informative things about the Hawks. Every second you spend watching ESPN and talking about it you are giving them what they want. If you don't value their opinion then why bother giving them the time of day?

Like every Saturday over the past several years, I didn't watch the Gameday sketch. Unless one of those guys and / or their crony guests are actually congregating with the Committee this weekend, I just don't get the level of butthurt backlash from Hawkeye Nation. Seriously, the majority in the "playoff team?" thread struggle to consider Iowa as deserving a playoff spot, yet, when national media agree y'all act like they're ignorant and biased; can you say, "hypocrit".

As others have stated ... Hawks just need to take care of their business and WIN OUT. Anything less and they expose themselves as paper tigers and all the criticism is deserved. Championship teams should not lose to the bottom feeders Iowa has left on their schedule, especially in November.

I EXPECT the Hawks to do just that. In the meantime, speak softly and carry a big stick.

Haven't watched CGD in a LOOOONG time. ESecPn is spot on! For all the BTN bashing I hear, that's my go to.

We all love sticking our HAWKS in their mouth no matter what they are saying. Who cares? They might not want it but we are making them take it and talk about it.

I used to watch it for about 10 minutes just to see if there were Iowa signs in the crowd. I don't even do that anymore.

Unfortunately even if we're 11-0 they'll still be talking about our schedule while they will promote Baylor as great when their sos is south of 100. You won't find journalists anymore. Just talking heads trying to win a popularity contest.

It won't be by the end of the season. Not even close.

You can't talk about how tough their "future" schedule is. They could lose all of the tough games on that schedule. What difference would it make if they finished 9-3? It's very similar to Iowa finishing 7-5 but losing to every team with a winning record. Without their starting QB, they could very well lose 3 games to come.

THATS ANOTHER IOWA STATE MORAL VICTORY!!!!!

Good post. That's the best point being made today. Regardless of whatever the boys of ESPN or John Saunders say...as long as we keep winning, they have to keep talking about us.

Where's the Iowa Nice Guy when we need him? Someone find the dark knight and tell him to unleash his fury.

For football, 2016 is the last year of the Big Ten-ESPN contract.
Don't be surprised to see Fox get this going forward.
FOX and FS1 doesn't want to continue showing Kansas blowouts every Saturday.

Most of the time when people rip on Iowa's schedule, they've been focusing on the last five games. Iowa's SOS coming into today was solid, but everyone knew it was going to plummet down the stretch, and that's what the pundits have focused on. If they're going to focus on the rest of the schedule for Iowa, it's only fair that they look at the future schedule for the top contenders, too.

If Baylor goes undefeated, their SOS down the stretch could easily trump Iowa's. All of these arguments are made with the assumption that the contenders win out, because if they don't, they're out anyway.

The Iowa ripping made a lot more sense in 2009 when we barely beat Northern Iowa and Arkansas State. It makes no sense this year. The strength of schedule is fine we just haven't really beat any teams with a name. Us being ranked behind Notre Dame, who has a loss and whose best win is Navy (okay, maybe it will be Temple) and Stanford who lost to team we clobbered is stupid.

There's a certain level of disrespect the Big Ten gets nationally that isn't really deserved anymore, it's based off of preconceptions they had a few years ago. Things like Northwestern scoring more points on Minnesota than TCU should matter but it doesn't.

None of it matters though. There is no way that an undefeated Iowa (who I'm pretty certain would be guaranteed to be one of 4 undefeated power 5 teams if it happened no matter what since TCU and Baylor play each other and we would eliminate Michigan State or Ohio State from being undefeated should we go undefeated) who beats the number one team in the country, if Ohio State, or who beats what would likely be a top 5 team in Michigan State, gets left out. If they do than the playoff system is pretty useless.

The major reason people are upset is because there are claims (or fears) of a one loss team jumping undefeated Iowa. Really doubt that happens but that's where I think the fear/anger comes from.

One reason I'm looking forward to Indiana is we will have a common opponent that took the #1 team to the limit.
