Game Story: Resilient Hawkeyes Pull It Out in Ames

17-14, 1982. Chuck Long was a redshirt freshman. Started the season with two loses to no. 7 Nebraska, 7-42, and Iowa State, 7-19. Ended up 6-2 in the conference with a win in the Peach Bowl.
Long started the opener at Nebraska, where he famously upchucked over Hayden's white pants on the sidelines on a hot day. Hayden turned to Tom Grogan for ISU and there may have been a third QB in the mix. He turned back to Long, for good, in the second half or that Arizona game and the rest was history.

The story here in Vegas reads Resilient Liver Still Functioning Day After.

They've got an awesome Iowa club that gets together every Saturday at Hooters for the game out there. I highly recommend it.
