Game Preview, Prediction: Hawkeyes Look to Keep it Rolling Against ISU

My prediction:

Iowa kicks off. Smothering defense holds ISU to 3 and out. ISU punts, Iowa takes over at their own 32. ISU starts game with 9 in the box, Iowa hands off to whoever we start at RB, flea flicker, Stanley throws it, 68 yard TD. 7-0.

Next series, 3 and out for clowns. Iowa runs a double reverse flea flicker on first down, another long TD pass. 14-0.

Next series, ISU gets desperate, d-line has three sacks in a row and AJE gets a safety. 16-0. Iowa grinds out a long drive to close out the quarter and leads 23-0.

Game goes on like that until midway in the third when Ferentz brings in the backups and Iowa sails to a 57-10 victory.

We started the 1991 game with a flea-flicker for a TD. Rodgers pitched it back to Saunders, Saunders handed it off to Rodgers, Rodgers threw it to Danan Hughes who caught it, scored, and took a huge baseball swing in the end zone.

I am looking forward to the maturation of this team. I think it happens a lot quicker this year and i attribute that to the staff recognizing the Wisconsin game as the week we need to be at 100% installed and "educated." I think that there is a huge advantage to having a game under the belt, returning some firepower that was missing from a good week one showing and it being a home game. I believe the days of blowouts are over in the series save for an occasional anomaly. Look for something closer to 34-20 Hawks. Stanley at 250 and 3 TDs. 34-13 with late ISU score making it closer. Too many items in Iowa's favor including talent.

Dude, did you see Iowa's defensive line against Northern Illinois? We are like 2 deep with NFL talent. ISU ain't crossing the 50 until garbage time. This game will be a blowout.

Hello, i'm Iowa, have we met?

Love the Hawks, but ISU is unfortunately "in the building" with Campbell around. I have Iowa by 21 til the final minutes. Good Lord. That's blowout in the last 10 yrs of this series.

I do think the Hawks will win this one, but I don't see it being a blowout. ISU offense can move the ball, I trust Iowas defense to make enough stops to keep them at bay.

31-28 Hawks

34-10, Iowa

This is a blowout because Iowa controls both LOS. Iowa St needs to win the battle up front I don't think they can. I realize this is the argument given by Iowa fans every year, but I think this D-line is deep and special. And on the offensive end you have 2 bookend NFL tackles chomping at the bit ready to get after it.

Step on their necks until you hear a distinct "crunch"...then step harder and grind like you're putting out a cigarette.

I told you I'm not God. Quit calling me.

D libe is really good. Linebackers were a bit lost.
We are on the same page about having a nice little saturday planned. Watch the Hawks win, go to home depot, maybe bed bath and beyond...i dont know if there will be enough time though

Hawks may be a little tight. ISU has nothing to lose and will throw everything at Iowa. Will KF coach conservatively.
I liked that BF threw the long pass to Fant early in the game but I hope they dont tighten up the offense.

Tight game with Iowa pulling away early in the 4th qtr 31-21.

I see a close game going into the half...something like 13-10 in Iowa’s favor. But I think our advantages on both lines of scrimmage pay dividends in the 2nd half and we pull away for a 34-20 win.

I love my Hawks, but Stanley has GOT to be better, he even got way outdone by Annexstad of MN. If he can connect a few downfield and hover 200 yds, I like the chances.

Yeah, I think the defense wins this one, as well. Iowa 21 - 17. ISU scores one late in garbage time. (I hope, I hope, I hope we win)

I hope Iowa's defensive line is aggressive and relentless against Iowa State's offensive line. Iowa State's offensive line is questionable. My understanding is they have moved their center to left tackle because he is their best lineman and are starting a red shirt freshman at center. Josh Knipfel at guard is also pretty good. Josh Mueller at LG is also untested and Bryce Meeker at RT has been adequate.
