Future Attendence

I think there's a disconnect somewhere, something isnt right. It really pisses me off when Rudock is laying on his back after taking a blow picking himself up off the ground, where's the OLine helping him up?? Another Rudock example, when he got hit by the Iowa State Dlineman that didnt hear the whistle and drilled him in the knees, Where was the rest of the team getting in that guys face protecting their teammate??? Im not saying throw a punch or get a penalty, but nobody did a damn thing, they left Jake back there picking himself up off the ground. Maybe Im way off base here, probably am, but something isnt right with this "team".

I agree. You would think with a couple leaders on offense like Wiseman and Schreff. EVERONE would be in tune with the TEAM thing

This horrible schedule is a product of college football conference realignment. Just a watered down version of what you once knew. The other issue i see is that unless/until KF finds another Ricky Stanzi, Iowa will flounder and even then Stanzi played his senior season like he had been neutered.

Surprised at how many are dumping tickets. Anybody going to change their minds with a few big wins to finish the season?

I can see your examples; but before drawing that conclusion, I'd point to just this last Saturday at minny. On the last kickoff when Perry went down with the leg injury, a few players came out and helped carry him off the field instead of the training staff. For the players to do that after suffering a huge beat down, having several defensive gaffes, and chewing on each other for parts of the game; makes me think that this team will be able to rebound and are still together.

Of course both of us could very well be reading into this.

Agree totally, but (not that you need a history lesson) the team won the Orange Bowl in 2009 and nearly everyone was back for 2010. So in 2010 there was plenty of reason to have high expectations, and that doesn't typically happen all that often with this program. So sure, people were going to buy in. Even Miller had us playing for the national title in his pre-season picks. Oops.

That should have been, IMO, a Top 10 calibur team, but it was a real killer that in every one of it's five losses, Iowa had the lead in the 4th quarter, sometimes inside the last few of minutes, and they all got away. It reminded me a lot of last year's basketball season, now that I think about it.

Even if you assume Iowa doesn't win ALL of those close games and bothers to show up for the Minny game, that was still at least a 10-2 team. Getting 7-5 was brutal. And don't forget the dropped TD pass by Indiana that would've made it 6-6, but fortune smiled on Iowa that day.

I've never seen a more disappointing Iowa team. Not 1997, not 2005, not 2006, not this year. 2010 takes the cake in my book.

2010 wouldn't sting so much if 2011-present had been better, but...

Fair enough, but even with almost everyone back, I was uber-worried about the few key losses, especially on D, and that was ultimately why we lost late leads - in 2009 Edds and Angerer made huge plays to ice games. In 2010, Clayborn had to play contain or LB half the time (dropping back into passing lanes) and was a shell of his 2009 stature. Looking back rationally with the benefit of a few years of cooling off, we for the most part just got beat by better teams and Northwestern magic. But we were competitive and the games, save for the outcome, were fun to watch. That just isn't the case right now. Right before that season, I posted a WSJ article where they picked Iowa as a likely choke candidate and I think they have a darn good sports page (it's just a page and it isn't in your face ESPN type nonsense) so I was really worried when they came out with that and I tempered my expectations to 8-4.

Nah. I'd had it by that point. Never looked back.
08 was another huge dissapointment w/ a terrible loss to Pitt and another loss to lousy northwestern.
09 brought us another home loss to northwestern. we barely beat Ark St. that year, and bowl win against a gimmick team that didn't deserve BCS considerations in the first place.
2010- the disaster WI game.
2011- Clowns loss at home w/ an understandable loss to MI St later in the season.
2012- ugh. quit watching the team at some point this season, don't remember when (1st time ever)
2013- lost to every single team w/ a pulse (except for NE if they count that year)
Geez, going over our losses throughout those years is bringing back bad memories. I guess you could say that; "No, in no way do i feel i made the wrong choice". Of much lesser consideration, for me, is the atmosphere. I don't get crazy anymore pregame so the crack down on booze didn't personally affect me but I'm sure glad this wasn't the case when i was in school there and to me it's really just about the performance of the team. I'd watch the hawks in Jack Trice or a high school field if the product was any good.

Very well. I didn't mean to question how you spend your time and monies (nor bring up bad memorie ). My question was more along the lines of just thinking of being in the stadium for the games. The feel of the games, the roller coaster rides, the excitement of it all, etc. I had used my father in laws fix for the '07 WMichigan game, and even with how that turned out I was convinced I was gonna buy season tix for the first time in '08. I'm glad I did when I look back at some of the games I was present for. '08 PSU (yup, I stormed the field), the '09 Indiana or '11 Pitt comeback, watching Greene play vs Wiscy/ISU/Purdue, the beat down of Dantonio's thugs in '10 (wasn't that the year Dantonio picked his player up from jail on the way to the game?), the Hebrew Hammer pounding minny in 2012, how loud the stadium was for the defense in 2010 (the crowd chanting Nooooorrrrm! whist he was recovering from diabetes treatment), NW overtime win last year.

I could go on and on. I'm not always happy with the play on the field, and I certianly get upset with the team/coaches at times; but I feel the good is outweighing the bad (at least in my book).

Good post, Keef. I agree completely about the '09/'10 seasons.

Ahh. I see. I guess the GameDay experience in itself wasn't enough to keep me there. There's Definately merit in going to a game regardless of the product on the field. Just not week after week after week. ... if I had kids I'd probably be there with them every weekend and keep my trap shut for their sake though.

2010 was a combination of several injuries, starting right guard I believe and I think it was Koepple who filled in but he was undersized center, robinson got dinged, and Tarp at linebacker and another linebacker were all huge losses. And I think Binns was maybe out for awhile and dragging his leg around, him or daniels.

It was enough for the offense to lose the ability to move the ball as well as they had early in the season and on defense it was enough so that making plays to get off the field was tougher and opponents got more big plays.

Will not because won't. By miracle it does, still won't. Done till they gone.

OK...the majority of the posters on this thread are speculating, but present their views as factual. I am willing to bet that the season ticket sales for 2015 will be within 1-2 percent, plus or minus, of the 2014 sales. Yes, I am speculating, not stating a fact.

The assumption that lots of people will drop their season tickets is pretty silly. I am going to try hard to remember to post next fall a comparison of season ticket sales...I hope you will be around to either eat crow, or, just crow. Anyone have a comparison for the past 3 or 4 years? (I do not)

ticket prices on stubhub for the wisconsin game have really nosedived ... not a good sign about the feelings of the fan base
