Fuller comes out AGAIN and says he's staying...

As I mentioned multiple times in the past, I see Aaron staying at Iowa.

“I plan on coming back next year,â€￾ Fuller said. “If coach is here, great; if he’s not, it’s unfortunate.

“I hope the best for him. But the program is not where it needs to be at. And it’s not my choice whether he stays or goes.â€￾

Fuller’s performance has been one of the few bright spots this season. He made honorable mention all-Big Ten after leading Iowa in rebounding.

He also recorded his sixth double-double of the season Thursday with 13 rebounds and 10 points.

“I’ve been here for two years, and I’ve gotten accustomed to Iowa City,â€￾ said Fuller, who is a native of Mesa, Ariz. “I do plan on coming back next year whether he stays or goes.â€￾

That is a pretty strong statement....
 
Storm, any truth to rumors that Gatens didn't want to be here if Lick was going to be back? seems to be some on the other site seeming close to the family are insisting that they had a meeting with barta some point this week?

agreed. if fuller could be this productive in lick's methodical scheme where most of the time he was utilized as a screener 25 ft. from the hoop, imagine how effective he'll be in a (hopefully) up-tempo system.

I did not see it on the boards, but on Twitter, that two Hawks went to Barta threatening to leave. Any truth to this?

He doesnt want lick back

Barta met with the team thats been confirmed on other sites.

Fuller said he was leaving if Lick stayed

Gatens said he was leaving if Fuller left.

Aaron knows basketball is a business. The staff and players all know the program isn't where it needs to be, they all know it. I think Aaron is just stating the obvious... he can't do anything about what Barta does. He is here in Iowa City to play basketball for the Hawkeyes, if his coach is let go, he can't do anything about it. But if he does go, Aaron is going to stick around.

That's what I get out of it.

Answering my own question, the only two Hawks that I would think would have any kind of influence at all would be Fuller and Gatens. Those were my thoughts after I saw the tweet earlier today.

Gatens appeard to be in foul mood all year long.

I don't know if I like players flexing their muscle to get coaches pushed out the door. I guess if it gets to that point maybe the coach deserves it?

Who knows, It just has an odd feel if Fuller and Gatens were key factors in getting Barta to show Lickliter the door.

I am not saying it happened, I am just saying I saw it on Twitter. It did not even mention Gatens and Fuller. These two quickly came to my mind as really the only two that would have any type of influence at all in my opinion.

Why does it matter who?
People just have to find a way to start ****.
I hope every one of the players that have large issues with Lick have talked to Barta. It would suck and take some serious cajones but its what they should do if its really that bad.
My wife and I felt we had to and the AD leaked it and my kid spent two years being ridiculed and treated badly by the coach. The result of which is a coach now gone after what we said was finally accepted as true and my kid earning three straight state honors and a paid trip to college. Sometimes ******** is warranted.
 
What does it say about how far we have fallen when players stating they are STAYING at the school they agreed to play at for four years is seen as some sort of victory?
