Late in his coaching career, I was at an away game. The Hawks weren't having a terrific year. They soundly beat their opponent. There weren't a lot of Hawk fans at the game. After the field was cleared and most fans had left, the Iowa fans were hanging around in the corner of the stands. Fry came back out walked across the field and said thank you to the Hawk fans and was very appreciative of our attendance. Probably my favorite memory of Fry.

Wins on the road are one of the best parts of Iowa football game attendance. Especially to the destinations where few Iowa fans travel to.

Some of the few times Kfer show emotion.

It was Illinois. tickets were easy and cheap as neither team was very strong.
