Fran suspended 1 game

You really need to spend more time watching games and less time posting on message boards. Unlike 1977 I'm not going to agree to disagree. You're ignoring valid points so there's no reason to discuss this with you any further. Continue with your drivel until your heart's content.

What has been wrong with the officiating this year? The Wisconsin game the officiating was fine.

LOL seriously...you can't be for real...all the phantom calls on Iowa, while Wisky beats on Iowa players and nothing is called, yeah i guess that is fine....

What was the reason? He didn't touch the ref. The ref actually sort of arm-barred him and initiated contact, so really it was nothing other than an outburst and double T. People are getting way too PC in sports.

I guess it's the same type of mentality that basically has made it illegal for defensive players in FB to touch the QB or WR.

Did Bo Pelini get a fine for his outburst? If so, then at least it's consistent...

Sorry I'm not going to agree with you. The officiating in that game was fine. I know some people love to ***** about officials, and hell I'm usually there to join them, but there hasn't been a game this year where I've thought the officials were bad. Not one.

"Nothing" was called? Wisky actually had only 1 less personal foul called on them than Iowa.

I actually took a quick look at the foul stats for the first week of league play (12 games, 24 team foul totals). There is a definite home court advantage, but the numbers are not as big as you might expect. In the 12 games, the visiting team had more fouls in 10 of the games. However, there were only 4 games where the differential was more than 3. On average, there are about 3.5 more fouls called against the home team. If you take out the 2 Nebby games (they were forced to foul late in their games) the average differential drops down to 2.4.

They're out there as it pertains to the 1st T. Go find them yourself...won't be hard. I have no memory of an official ever making contact with either of these coaches so they most likely have not chased them down the court...but I suspect they would.

Bo, izzo or Matta have never completely lost their minds like Fran did. Sure they've gone ballistic on the sidelines but I've NEVER seen Bo or Izzo track down an official and have to be restrained. Several times I might add

Listen I love Fran but that was embarrassing. He just lost control of himself. You gotta have more composure than that. I think we've seen glimpses of this happening before.

The officiating has been fine. I would argue it's been better than the previous two years.

The officiating won't be fine until Iowa stops losing close games. Until then its always the officials' fault. And ESPN, don't forget about them.

Let me guess, you thought they were fine in the Iowa St game too?

sorry but he was ejected from the game why a suspension? He already paid for what he did by getting the ejection. A fine ok suspended stupid!

I really don’t understand how people were "embarrassed" by Fran. How were you personally "embarrassed" by this? People throw the words embarrassed, offended, and epic around way too much anymore. Americans have become drama queens.

All I can go off of is my initial impression when it came back from commercial which was….."What the heck are you doing Fran?" I love Fran and he's a great coach but in that moment it was too much. It wasn't the usual tirade you generally see from other coaches either, it went a notch further. There were missed or bad calls but the officiating in the UNI game he got ejected from was far worse. Just a fine would of sufficed in my opinion, but I'm not surprised or outraged by the suspension. I said it to myself when it happened that this may get him a game or two. Thankfully, it was only one.

I wasn't embarrassed by Fran or his actions and I think he was justified in complaining loudly about the lopsided road officiating, which the league has repeatedly failed to address, particularly in places such as Madison, East Lansing and Columbus.

Where I think the suspension was warranted was Fran continuing to yell and move towards the official/officials in a menacing manner after getting the first "T," even while being restrained by his staff, and doing it again and even more aggressively after getting the second "T" and being ejected. As badly as the officiating stunk at that point (and it did), you can't threaten officials, whether by words or actions, directly or indirectly. I'm standing with Fran on being upset about the officiating, in this game specifically but more broadly on the road in the conference, but he was wrong to make the physical moves he did towards the officials.

In my opinion, Fran needs to worry less about the officiating and more about his team taking good shots and making free throws. I was fine with one T, whatever, you made your point. Gather your team, get them refocused and stop the bleeding. Acting like a maniac, getting thrown out, and suspended doesn't do anybody any good.

I still haven't found anything about the official being reprimanded/suspended for making contact with a head coach...

Did not realize the ref was in the team huddle during the timeout.
Fran was 100% wrong in this situation. You got the first T which is fine, you made your point, after that go back to the huddle and coach up your freaking team.

Said it before, how can you expect your team to be composed in a tight heated game if you as the coach are not.

And Fran has said as much. What do we want...blood letting?

How does this work? Would it be OK for Barta to introduce Fran prior to announcement of the starting line-ups, who in turn would thank fans for turning out on his bobblehead night, make a joke or two about the bobblehead face not being red enough, and thank fans for supporting the Hawks, and now it was time for him to retire to the dressing room to watch the game on TV?

Oh, man, could you imagine the CHA reaction? A big Johnny Orr "WOOO-WOOO!"

That would be pretty funny, but don't think you want to poke the bear that is the Big 10 office.
