Fran should go nuts if refs allow this v MSU

From what I've seen so far, the Big Ten officials tend to 'let them play.' I've seen so many fouls in the paint this season and the whistles were dead silent.

Welcome to life in the pits. As long as there are no severed limbs, there's no foul. It's been that way since I played in the '70s, and probably long before that. I remember our Conference MVP forward, Bob "Bud" Johnson, staggering out of the lane after going for the rebound. He promptly spat out one of his front teeth (they did find it later). They stopped play only because he was bleeding from the mouth. No foul called for the blatant elbow thrown to dislodge his tooth. Just another play in the pits.

Some of these calls were close IMO. The Marble no call could of been called offensive for him purposely jumping into the guy. Part of me wants to say good no-call (watching too much NBA). McCabe was clearly moving his feet down low when it looked like Nix charged into him, probably because Nix is 3 times the size of McCabe. Also the White foul which looked clean was not a great camera angle and if there was another camera angle behind White you would of seen him getting the shooter on the wrist area.

NO. Absolutely not. When a player is in the air and jumping toward the shooter, he loses the "principal of verticality" that is necessary to get a no-call or an offensive foul called. He was definitely in the air, he lost that. It was a foul. Plain and simple. It went uncalled.

Man I made a mistake watching that utube. Now I hope the Hawks just KILL MSU and pour it on right until the final gun.

Poor calls are just part of the game and it's not going to change anytime soon unless we start utilizing replay. I think refs often realize when they miss or make a bad call but rarely do you see it changed or the other refs step in and overturn the call. You do see especially in the NBA make-up calls to even it out between the two teams. I see more refs not making the call more often then making the bad call. I think in the next few years coaches will being given possibly two replay challenges per game on calls. I think it's possible the NCAA will create a centralized replay facility with referees that will decide these challenges by coaches. Maybe I'm nuts and we'll never see in the NCAA. I guess my bottom line is just don't make the game so close at the end where you give the refs the ability to determine the outcome.

You're either kidding or trolling, I'm not sure which. Horrid bit of officiating by three officials I wouldn't assign to a youth travel game, much less junior high or high school.

You can always tell who didn't play bb when they don't know that the hand is considered part of the ball for foul purposes.
