Fran should go nuts if refs allow this v MSU

I ***** about refs during games but after some thought and reflection I'm typically over it since refs always blow and both teams usually get screwed by it but that BTT game last year we got boned hard.

I completely expect Michigan State to get away with stuff because they always do. Izzo knows how to get his team to be physical without calls and our stupid conference thinks physical basketball is exciting to watch. I also expect them to not call the push offs by offensive players (we do it too) and call no hand checks (the only player who gets some benefit of this is Woodbury, he uses his hands a lot and could get called for even more fouls than he does) and they won't call the defensive arm bars they are supposed to call. Basically, I expect the same old **** Tuesday night and it will make for a sloppy basketball game that I we still will win.

I really believe this game is ours. We should have slapped them both times last season and once while not having Marble. I'd love to see a double digit win. I'd go streaking if its a 20 point win.

Poor calls are just part of the game and it's not going to change anytime soon unless we start utilizing replay. I think refs often realize when they miss or make a bad call but rarely do you see it changed or the other refs step in and overturn the call. You do see especially in the NBA make-up calls to even it out between the two teams. I see more refs not making the call more often then making the bad call. I think in the next few years coaches will being given possibly two replay challenges per game on calls. I think it's possible the NCAA will create a centralized replay facility with referees that will decide these challenges by coaches. Maybe I'm nuts and we'll never see in the NCAA. I guess my bottom line is just don't make the game so close at the end where you give the refs the ability to determine the outcome.

Poor calls are part of the game but that is why it's important for coaches to jaw at the refs to keep it balance. There was plenty of jawing coming from Michigan last week. If Fran tries it they will T him up fast. He is on a short leash.

I really blame Barta for not backing Fran in a better way after the Wisky situation. He neutered our coach its that simple. I have seen so many coaches in the B1G this year rip into refs and not get a T for it.

Some of these calls were close IMO. The Marble no call could of been called offensive for him purposely jumping into the guy. Part of me wants to say good no-call (watching too much NBA). McCabe was clearly moving his feet down low when it looked like Nix charged into him, probably because Nix is 3 times the size of McCabe. Also the White foul which looked clean was not a great camera angle and if there was another camera angle behind White you would of seen him getting the shooter on the wrist area.

I wouldn't trade Iowas coaching staff for any other one in the big ten, and Fran is going to build Iowa basketball into something special, but he needs to learn to work the officials more. Iowa has gotten a lot of bad officiating in a couple of games this year, and I doubt they would of gotten treated that way if he worked the officials like Izzo and some of the other coaches do. Sometimes you need to remind them to be fair to your team. When a coach lets some of the crap the officials do go, its only going to bring more bad calls for your team.

No offense, but none of them were close. Nix jumped into marble. Had he gone straight up, you MIGHT have an argument. The problem with the McCabe and Nix play was that Nix took 5 steps before the foul call...should have been traveling. Finally, the White call was made by the ref who was behind the play, so the camera angle was actually better than his angle. So other than being wrong on those 3 points, you were dead on on the rest of your points!

Are you ******* serious, Clark? That gets called a foul 99% of the time, and it always goes against the defender.

Of the plays in the video, ONLY Marble's no-call on the final shot might have been correct. I don't think there was that much contact and it was 80% acting. The one on White was TECHNICALLY correct, but the call went to the complete opposite end of the spectrum for how the game had been called to that point. You don't call a foul on Payne for dragging McCabe halfway down the court, or on Nix for squashing Marble, but you're going to call a slight tap on the wrist? Give me a break.

It actually seems like ever since Fran's tirade in the Kohl Center that the officiating in Iowa's games has been above average. There were some terrible calls in the Michigan game but some of that is just life in the road in the B1G.

I have noticed something like that and wondered if I was dreaming.....

And that call should be called against the defender (don't be ******* and bit on the pumpfake.) That was probably the only time I've ever seen that not called (unless a guy tries it and grazes the defender or something. I'm still angry about that one and I'll probably never forget that call (I'm a crazy person)

That video is annoying. I will say though, that no way Sparty wins if they only put up 59 points this year. No way.

Absolutely not. They don't have the horses inside to dominate us like they did with Nix and Payne last year. We're gonna have this game in the mid-high 70's. I don't think Sparty can match that at our place.

I've watched parts of quite a few B1G games this season, at least long enough to see who the refs are. I haven't seen ol' Teddy V. reffing any B1G games. Has anyone else seen him reffing a B1G game this season?
