HN's Love Doctor
For me, the coaches who didn't yell I didn't take seriously and the team tended to walk all over them, screw around in practice, etc.
That says more about you than the coach.

I disagree. Fran doesn't yell anymore than most coaches on the sidelines. By all accounts players love him and his coaching style. If they can't take the yelling, maybe they should forgo their scholarship and join the chess club? I mean he's no Bobby Knight out there. So he kicked a chair several years ago. He's been fairly subdued the last few years. You ever see Tom Izzo yell at a player. He has chewed Costello's *** numerous times and called him out during a halftime interview. Newsflash, coaches yell.
Not to single out seepig but his post illustrates the point I'm going to make.
I read an interview with Fran a while back where he was asked about his emotional coaching style. His answer was that every kid needs to be coached differently. He specifically talked about Uthoff. He said Uthoff hates to be yelled at. Uthoff came to him early and asked him to please not yell at him... just tell him what he wants done differently and he'll do it. He didn't mention other names but said that some players need to be yelled at or they don't take the point he's making seriously.
I'm confident that Fran knows exactly what he's doing and who he's doing it with.

Bill Walsh...Tom Landry-those guys don't strike me as yellers. If the players respect you it doesn't matter how much you yell.
