Fran McCaffrey...

Can this man really assess talent and recruit? His best player originally picked Wisconsin. A lot of overrated talent on this team and wrong guys playing at wrong periods in games.

Mid major coach at best whose only major coaching job hope was Barta. Why do you think no other schools moved on this guy.

Marking this as the first time a certain BB coach's hind quarters are now touching a portion of a burner on the Coach's Hot Seat.

Barta - one of the worst coaching contracts in college sport's history plus one bad BB hire and another that is trending into unsatisfactory territory. His hind quarters are closer to the center ring of the AD burner or should be............I'm trying to remember the last season in one of two major programs that we were truly surprised on the upside.
 
Your watching a different game than everybody else is if your serious about saying Oglesby plays defense. He makes 2 shots, then because he's a step slower than everyone else, his guy make 2-3 pointers and he has to foul 3 times because he's so slow.

It's never Fran, is it. He is responsible to recruit, coach, develop, motivate, game plan, hire assistants, etc. But to the "positive" people who keep supporting iowa athletics today, you are the problem. You accept it. Its always something, normally bad luck or officiating, or fans picking on players and coaches. Yes, its our fault. Fran gets paid well. Take the money, the responsibility and the blame.
 
Bottom line is Fran is the head coach. It is his job to have his players ready to play and they haven't been the last two games. Top level winning coaches have a way to get through to their players that performances we have seen against Minn and NW are not acceptable. I don't see that happening. i don't see passion or intensity on the floor. I have supported Fran up until now, but I am close to saying its time to move on.

The hope is that we get a decent president who will hire a decent AD.

Ferentz has retired on the job and needs to be gone.

IMO Fran gets one more year. His coaching is or lack there of is baffling but this group of players is also a pathetic mess who constantly make dumb decisions. He can't shoulder all the blame when he gets a bunch of the top instate guys who all mostly turn out to be duds.

If Gessel and Woody turn out to be Heinrick and Collison this is a top ten team.

Frans earlier teams were much better at maximizing their abilities, these current upperclassmen are just so weak.

The next group is different than what he's brought in so far. Much more athletic and able to play defense and run. We should have all the information we need on Fran by next year.

if this new group is tough minded and hard nosed then we will be going in the right direction, if it's just more tall tweeners with no real offensive skill sets then we will know it's not going to work.

ALL three of those fouls were really questionable.

I'm frustrated, and terrified of another meltdown. But I still love Fran, and I back him. I admit I tend to be too loyal At times. I still think things overall have been better every year, although by tiny tiny steps.

I liked Lickliter too, but results matter! If these 5 years are what we have to look forward to, then you may as well give away tickets because season ticket sales will decrease just like before. This is not acceptable.

Agreed. This was just one of many frankly baffling decisions by Fran that I think cost Iowa the game:

- Woody was having an awful game. Gabe brought some energy and an ability to control Olah. Why stick with Woody so long and leave Gabe on the bench.

- Jok was playing well and deserved more minutes. Fran rode Josh too long, even for the little amount of time he played.

- Mike was getting scorched by their shooters at the top of the key. Fran needed to switch Jarrod or someone with more size, longer arms and more ups to the point to disrupt the outside shooting.

- you finally get the lead and are in control with under two minutes to play and you sit on the ball? Sorry, but that's the time to step on the gas and run NU out of their own gym.

This loss was 100 percent on Fran. He did not put his players in position to win.

He totally lost me today.

Edit: At this point I do want want this team to make the tournament. I do not want to see them urinate down their leg yet again on national TV. The BTN guys were right: this is not a tournament team.

Hear Ya. After years of watching lay downs, you can only take so much, not in one sport, but two. Don't step on the love train and complain, or you're a troll. Be a yes man and you are good with the ol boys.
 
When I start to think fran cant recruit I think of just a few years ago that iowa was such a recruiting mecca that lil lick had a scholarship.
