Fran B1G COY?

Thad Matta...lost much more than Ryan and finished higher with a less than full allotment of scholarships.

Jordan Taylor was a bigger loss than any of the guys you listed.

Really? Then people should have picked OSU behind Wisconsin in the pre-season. They didn't.

Wisconsin in addition to Taylor lost Gasser who was a starter and heir apparent.

Michigan is also a Top 10 team nationally.

I didn't pick the teams, I'm just explaining the facts of life.

So because they finished in the Top 10 nationally, but 5th in conference, that holds more weight, gotcha. Actually, I really had no issues with the all-conference teams this year, except Craft on the media 1st team.
The best players were rewarded for their seasons.

Yes they did, they lost Sullinger for starters and then had three guys transfer for whatever reason that may be. They have no bench and just because people picked them higher means people thought they were just better, but I am surprised to see them finish where they did.

You said Marshall was going to be their starter and actually, I would argue that the emergence of Jackson was far better for them than having Gasser slide over to PG.

Yeah, no...Iowa's "best" players were a split on Third team and Iowa had nobody on the All-Freshman team.
Top 4 talent gets someone on 1st or 2nd team...not so much for Iowa, have another one.

Tell me something. why do you see the need to constantly rip or put down our Hawkeyes? and you call yourself a Hawkeye fan? really? How about maybe congratulating the kids who made BIG honors as opposed to ripping on them like you are?

It was Bo Ryan and it should have been Bo Ryan.

Only coaches with more COY are Bob Knight and Gene Keady.

Give me a break, Ryan wasn't even close to the best coach in the league this year (NICE LOSS TO FREAKING PURDUE AT HOME ON SENIOR NIGHT).
The B1G media has been a joke with these Coach of the Year Award for years.

How else can anyone possibly explain how Jim Tressel never won the award even one time during a run of winning the B1G 7 times in 9 years. NOT ONCE!
During that period Ferentz won 3, Joe "I Coach In Diapers"Paterno won 2, RON ZOOK won 1, and John L. Smith won 1. Half these guys have been
run out of major college coaching for incompetence, then you have Ferentz who has proven to be anything but a coaching virtuoso, and JoePa who has
proven he was such an inept, pathetic leader that he couldn't even defend children from a pedophile in his teams showers.

Bo's awards are a joke and prove nothing except that the media looks down on the Wisconsin job, like Ferentz he deserves about 1/3 of them.

I am not ripping Iowa's best players, you don't understand what I was saying.

Iowa doesn't have top 4 talent in the Big Ten, if they did the players that were recognized would be on higher all-conference teams...get it now, or do I need to simplify it more for you.

Also, who are you to rip on someone for ripping players?
I don't rip Iowa players.

Sorry buddy. I'm a bit slow. Could you maybe draw a pic? maybe I could then "get it now".

Damn all of you for making me stand up for Wisconsin and Activvadger.

Bo Ryan would be my choice. Lost Taylor off last year's team, lost Gasser, lost Brusewitz for stretches. People had left Wisconsin for dead after the OOC slate. And everybody thought their fast start in conference play was nothing more than a fluke. They continued to prove people wrong all year.

I'm sorry, but Ryan is a pretty easy selection, IMO.

I am not sure even pictures would help.

What do you classify as "ripping" players? Honest analysis, or continually pointing out things that have been said many times over?

You're a "media" member of course you would pick bo :)

I think looking at how many dare I say, lucky, breaks they had go their way, that isn't really about coaching. The system they play keeps them in games by limiting possessions in games. I don't think the loss of MB for a short period really hurts them. Dekker is really good and is an upgrade there to me. Wisconsin still had veteran players back that they were able to lean on, Jackson developed into a nice player and was able to just run the team and hit some big shots.

You lose a guy like Sullinger and have only one legit scorer on your roster in Thomas and finish with the #2 seed is far more of an accomplishment to me.

While Coach McCaffery has done an admirable job reconstructing the program from the maelstrom of his initial hiring, an award for "Coach of the Year" is axiomatically that; The best coach for that year. The ediface would be fundamentally deficient if it rewarded exploits from previous seasons.

Considering this premise, speculation for Coach McCaffery to procure this honor seems equivocal, as several coaches have experienced considerable levels of ascendancy beyond what our coach has achieved.
This makes me wonder...

What would you do-oo-oo...for a Klondike post...

Ryan and Crean are a tough 1-2. But I say Crean gets it. Here's why

Coaches are getting tired of Bo-ball.

More imporantly... Indiana basketball is a marque program for the Big Ten...much like Michigan or Ohio State football. IU's first Big Ten title in 20 years (3 way tie in 2002) = Crean for COY.

Wisconsin got the #4 seed playing with nothing but a bunch of role players. They have ZERO legit scorers, yet still finished in the top 4.

And the fact that Jackson developed doesn't really help your argument. Does that just happen on its own, or does coaching play a role in that?

And since when did Ohio State not have veteran players to lean on? Craft is a three-year starter who at least gets credit for being arguably the nation's best defender (although I think he's overrated). Thomas is Thomas. Smith averaged 25 minutes last year. Matta has always had a pretty short bench, so the lack of talented depth isn't really an issue for him.

If we were talking about any other coach, one without Bo's sideline antics, nobody here would be saying anything. The uproar has nothing to do with anything but the Bo/Wisconsin hatred. And that's fine; I hate Wisconsin, too. But people should at least be able to admit that's why they hate the selection, because there's not a strong argument against him when it comes to actual merit this year.

The only thing Klondike did wrong was change is "shtick" after he started. He started out going the "overly religious" route, now he changed to the "extraordinary vocabulary" route. I must say I like this one better.
