Fran B1G COY?

I reluctantly give it to Bo...as I said earlier. The reason he wins IMO is because Wisconsin exceeded my expectations by more than any other team in the conference. There was a lot of luck involved. If Wisconsin doesn't win against Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa and Penn State in games they easily could have lost then it's not Bo. Bo wins because Wisconsin exceeded expectations...even if there was some luck involved.

Side Note - Groce is nowhere in this conversation. There are several coaches I would pick ahead of him...Matta, Izzo, Painter, Fran to name 4.

Those would be my top 4 after bo also. Nebraska's coach could get the next spot probably.

If Fran had all the luck Bo got this year Iowa might have won the Big Ten.

It is obvious Bo sold his soul to the devil! :D

And Fran would have been COY. It all kind of goes hand in hand. I'm glad Fran opted to retain his soul, take his lumps and prepare this team for a big season next year. I'm troubled by coaches without a soul.

We already have to many players without souls.

I don't really think Crean deserved much consideration. For starting out number 1, they had some pretty ugly losses.

Mmmmkay.

Crean's team carried the weight of being the #1 team most of the year, and they still came up with big wins when they needed them. The comeback win on the road at Michigan is but one example.

Also, Crean's team won the BoneG conference, and they are the best team in the best conference. Arguably the #1 overall seed.

A few years ago, Crean's teams couldn't win anything. I would say he's done an excellent job, and really is deserving of COY honors.

Bo Ryan did a great job, but until proven otherwise, Crean has carrried this year's high expectations and is ready to roll in the tourney.

I think that Crean has done excellent over the last 3 years. I just think the coach of the year should be someone who over achieved on the year and other coaches fit that billing better. You do make good points though.

I can't really argue with your logic. I still go with Bo for the reasons I previously stated but you make a good case for Crean and I wouldn't argue anyone thinking him deserving.
