Agree, Conner needs to just stick with baseball and open up a scholarship. Dude can’t score,can’t rebound and he needs to stop eating extra buttered popcorn when he is on the bench. Sucks ass at Handeling the ball.
 
I cringe every time I see Connor McCaffrey take a shot or goes to the free throw line. The kid was supposed to be a 4 star coming outta high school but I just don't see it. Always turns the ball over or throws a bad pass at critical times.
 
I've been a Hawkeye fan all of my life, but I was pulling for the Fuskers in OT, I can't stand the McCaffery's. Conner lost this game.

I agree with most, but don't compare BBall to Football at Iowa. People can be reasonably frustrated with the football program, but that program has been solid and produced actual results, even recently. The football team generally plays with great effort. Lost the Big Ten championship game in the final seconds giving max effort after going 12-0. They struggle at times, but seem to fight back. Good bowl win this year. Maybe 2 first round draft picks.

Meanwhile... basketball has produced exactly nothing for years.

Bingo. While Kirk has his faults, he also has his program under control. He doesn't let his players get away with stuff on and off the court like Fran does. And the only total collapse I can think of under him would be 2010, which was still nowhere as disastrous as this season in bball.

Plus, his sons that played actually belonged on the field. I never like piling on players who give effort, but Connor McCaffery is a liability.

I’ve read some posts on this thread about Ferentz vs Fran. Don’t even compare the two because one: Ferentz, even in down years, is competitive. Fran: he’s great at coaching inconsistency and how to not play defense and not have toughness...list goes on.

And two: Ferentz is the Goat. People love playing for him. People behind closed doors and true Hawks fans(most) know Ferentz is a HOF coach. Fran is a crybaby who thinks 10-10 is “tremendous” in the B1G and it is a STRAIGHT REFLECTION ON HIS PLAYERS.

I'd argue Fran is a player's coach too. The outpouring of support after his suspension is evidence of that.

It's still not enough though.

I liked my first college football coach a lot. I credited him and the DC for getting me to a school I love, and I loved playing for them. That doesn't mean it was improper of the administration to ask him to step down after we won 9 games in 3 years, including an abysmal 1-9 season that could have just as easily been winless.

While I never want Iowa to be a "win at all costs" type of place, at the end of the day, you gotta have results.

Tremendous season, hired a defensive specialist whose expert coaching the team forgot/ignored, got self suspended, got announcer suspended, collapsed at end of year in a hideous demonstration of no fundamentals BB, got swept by Wisconsin. (Yes Fran was suspended but the team doesn't seem much different with or without his 'leadership.") Well Done! Tremendous season coach! Give Gary a call in his bunker for a contract update.
