Congrats to Gallery. One of my favorite Hawkeyes. Didn't he have a streak of not giving up a sack his senior year, maybe longer?

Still blows my mind he didn't have a more successful NFL career after how good he was at college. I guess we'll just blame the Raiders for that!!

I would guess it's difficult to compare guys at the lineman position as you don't have a lot of the stats to compare like the skill positions but he was the best college lineman that I've seen play at Iowa so I'd love to see him get in to the HOF.

First, I don't necessarily trust the selection process. It seems like some very worthwhile players have essentially needed people campaigning for them to get in. This will be an interesting test of how the larger world of college football remembers Gallery. The 12-0 regular season probably helped revive memories of those outside Iowa and the Big 10.

Second, I highly recommend the new college football hall of fame in Atlanta. It is really well done. Lots of nice technological advances. And it is located near Olympic Park. If you are in Atlanta, you must go.

Not sure what to say on this. How dominate was RG? It was clear he was not Orlando Pace . Winning the Outland trophy make it automatic that you are a Hall of Fame candidate ?

Agree. You would at least think if tackle wasn't for him in the NFL he could have settled to be a top guard. Weird. He was with the Raiders when it wasn't a really good time to be with the Raiders. Bad timing.

I remember the pancake blocks he used to have 15-20 yrds downfield when a Hawk. Good times. Good for him.

I didn't know it was there. Thanks for the heads up.

The new College Football Hall of Fame entrance has a wall of 700 helmets. When you enter and record what school you are a fan of, a light on the helmet comes on.

Many of the displays are digital, so I think they automatically customize to feature things of interest to the fans who have registered for that day.

And this wall is interactive. It uses your "access tag" to identify the school you like and gives you a display of players related to your school. And if you touch anything on the screen, it fills the screen with photos and videos related to what you touched.

And it has a Chick-fil-A in the building!

Gallery was the main reason Iowa was first referred to as "The Bullies of the B10"
I remember the play it happened on too.
Iowa had a running play and the camera stayed on Gallery.
He had made a devastating block and when the guy tried to get up after the pay RG planted his massive knee and forearm right into him putting him back on the ground as if to say "Hey, bud - I'm the reason you're on your back!"
I know he bombed in the NFL, but hell yeah he was a Hall o' Famer in his college days!!

I believe if he'd have gone to a better organization he would've had a much better career in the NFL. Oakland was a complete train wreck during that time; especially from a coaching standpoint. For one it seemed as if there was a revolving door for OL coaches while he was there.
