Former Hawk Dennis Green has died

He certainly left a positive legacy. One of the first black coaches in the league and he was universally respected for a long time. I'm too young to have seen him play for the Hawks but I think we should all be proud to have had him as a part of the Hawk family.

Sad,Dennis Green paved the way for a lot of minorities. He was successful in so many ways and for the most part did it with class and dignity. R.I.P. Coach Green.

69 was my first year at Iowa. Walked into the fieldhouse and saw Green working out. He was a big guy later on but in 69 the guy was all muscle Good running back and from what I knew an equally good person

While he will never be credited as NWs "turnaround" coach, he DID help them see that it IS possible to recruit good players to Evanston, and started them on that road. They were atrocious. Dennis Green got good players to that program and can certainly be credited as "starting" their return to being able to win and compete in the Big 10/Big Ten/B1G
