Football tidbits from Rittenberg

I like the comment about not having EGOS and the team not being under prepared. This is great from where I sit. Stay HUMBLE and kick some #$@ come Fall. Love it or Leave it.

Go Hawks

When I think about how good Clayborn and Ballard are set to be, and then hear all of the talk about Klug I have to pinch myself to keep my personal expectations in check. Heck, last year I thought Binns showed signs that he could be as good if not better than Clayborn by the time he is a SR. I just can't wait to see those 4 in game action.

I like to hear Mike Daniels is considered a fifth starter. Now we need another DE to step and give a blow to Adrian and Binns. Production decreases when a D-lineman has to play more than 50 snaps/game. If your playing a passing team the effective plays per game goes down.

A d-lineman wearing 12-15 lbs of equipment going all out for an average of six seconds per play (akin to a 40 yard dash while someone is hanging on you) at 50 plays. Hot days really take their toll, cool days you get more miles for the buck. That is why we saw Hundertmark early on last year, but once it cooled down, he was a no show.

Good write-up. A lot to be excited about this year at Iowa. Hopefully the guys come out motivated and determined to live up to those expectations.........
