Flemming back on defense

Reese Fleming says on his Facebook that CB is his new position. Was WR. #Hawkeyes

I know in the summer, he was getting reps with the 1's at WR along with Tevaun Smith. With Smith in the two deeps now, it's looking like they like him at WR more than Flemming. When you look at how Ruben Lile was looking as well as Draper and Buford, this class could end up with some solid CB recruits. Now we just need Mabin, Wilson, and Smith to start contributing next year.

That move happened last week, I think. Could turn out to be a positive. Will be interesting how Fleming,Lomax, Draper, Buford, Campbell, and Lowery compete at CB next year.

I am guessing he can't catch the ball. Hopefully he can get involved in the return game.

Possibly. In high school, he played qb and never ran wr routes. He may not of been a natural fit at the position. One thing he does have is speed and the coaches are wanting to get him on the field. I'd like to see him in the return game as well, as he has good field vision and the ability to make people miss.

With 4star D.Hill coming in next year is there enough playing time to keep everyone happy?

Some guys won't pan out or are a few years away. Miller and Loweryare seniors next year, so there will be depth being built but not a ton where nobody will ever play. Buford and Draper played on Saturday which means to me that we aren't that deep, also that Campbell must not be that impressive right now.

I may have missed it but is Lomax injured? Also, you never know with Delano Hill as he has never played a snap of college football. Also some of these guys will be safties and with injuries you always need depth.

Lomax had shoulder surgery right before camp opened. Out for the year.

Fisher is now at LEO, not safety. Possible another Safety will move to LB too. Never know if they have a growth spurt. Hitchens and Kirksey both started out as safeties too.

Maybe some thought is being given to moving more to a 4-2-5 approach rather than 4-3-4

Doubt youll ever see that look on first down but Im thinking/hoping they start using allot more nickle and dime in the future for obvious passing downs and then move back to having bigger linebackers that specialize in stopping the run.

They seem to be atleast setting up to play more Dbacks just by the numbers being brought in.
