OK, let's get serious. There is no hope for Iowa BB right now.

Fire Lickliter at the end of the year. He is not going to get it done and we are just kidding ourselves if we think otherwise.

Then hire Bruce Pearl (pay the money to lure him from Tennessee).

If we really care about basketball at Iowa, this must be done.
 
I have been attending Iowa basketball games since 1962. This is the worst Iowa basketball team in that time period and it is not even close.

The Iowa fans deserve better.

We fired Frank Lauterbur after 3 seasons after he went 0-8 in the Big Ten. There is a precedent. Lick should be fired if we go 0-18 in the Big Ten this year.
 
Hey Chosen you an IDIOT if you think Pearl is going to come to Iowa for any amount of money. They tried to get him last time and we got Lick. Wake up butt munch.

so why would bruce pearl want to leave an established basketball program that has consistently had success on a national level as of late (along with knocking off the #1 team in the country the other night) to come to a program that right now is frankly terrible, and whose fans have shown that they could give a crap as long as the football team has success? There is absolutely nothing appealing about the Iowa MBB caoching position right now, unless the university is planning on scratching an enourmous check. Although that is extremely unlikely seeing that they're already investing a pretty substantial amount to build a practice facility and renovate an arena that no on goes to.

He (bruce pearl) isn't coming, and niether is any other big name coach. With the state of the program, the best that Iowa is gonna get is another mid major coach that has had success in their conference.
 
I believe Bruce Pearl turned down the opportunity to become the head coach three years ago. There is no way that there has been something in these three years that made him think "hmmm I want to be a part of that".

Actually, if that did happen I would love Iowa to look east. Bring another Davis back to IC.

None of those names you mentioned were elite coaches before they came to Iowa.
 
Pearl @ Iowa would send every illannoy fan off the deep end. It would be immensely entertaining to witness their collective implosion. However, it's never going to happen.
 
This is Iowa.... Our M.O. is we don't fire our coaches. We may not renew contracts, but in "modern history" we don't fire coaches either.

Lickliter will get to play out his whole contract, if he so chooses.
