Fire the Lick and hire the Pearl

Dont say things you will regret later :)

Wayne Morgan was an awful awful awful coach
This may be true, but he is the coach with the most recent win (2005) in the NCAA tournament for the state of Iowa, isn't he?

Keno - no wins, 1 bid
McDermott (ISU) - no wins, no bids
Lickliter - no wins, no bids
Alford - 1 win (2001), 3 bids
Jacobson - no wins, 1 bid
McDermott (UNI) - no wins, 3 bids

That is a pathetic list of appearances and wins since roughly 2000.

I think Iowa should hire Bobby Knight. Instant increase in excitement and tickets sales, give him few years to straighten out the program.

How many bids did Morgan get? Just the 1 win?

Morgan's 1st year ISU lost in the semifinals of the NIT in New York, his second year they were an 8 or 9 seed and lost to #1 seed North Carolina in the second round and his 3rd year I don't think think they made the postseason and if they did they went out early in the NIT.

Bobby Knight HATES Iowa City. Would never happen.

I think his coaching days are behind him.

If Pearl would let his assistant go I think Iowa should talk to him.

This is Iowa.... Our M.O. is we don't fire our coaches. We may not renew contracts, but in "modern history" we don't fire coaches either.

Lickliter will get to play out his whole contract, if he so chooses.

What exactly leads you to say "we don't fire coaches"?

Let's break it down:

Lute - Took us to a final 4 and had quite a bit of success before leaving on his own accord. Why did he need to be fired?

Raveling - Stayed only 3 years and left on his own, taking us to 2 NCAA tournaments and leaving as much talent for his successor as we've ever had. Why did he need to be fired?

Davis - 13 years, winningest coach in school history. 9 NCAA tournaments in 13 years. Why did he need to be fired?

Alford - Ok, here is where we start getting into some gray area. The guy took us backwards from where the previous coaches had us, but his seat was getting hot, and he left before we fire him. ALFORD MIGHT HAVE BEEN FIRED IF HE STAYED.

Lickliter. ?????. Just my opinion, but I would be willing to put money on the fact that Lickliter won't get his entire 7 year contract if things don't improve over the first 2.5 years of his tenure.

I'm not quite sure where you say we don't fire coaches, because we haven't had many bad coaches that needed to be removed. Do you disagree?

To answer the original point of this thread - I would love to have Pearl at Iowa, whether or not it could actually happen.
