Ferentz Talks About Criticism

How about the 2010 season where Iowa either had the lead or was tied in the fourth quarter of all five losses? Could have been 12-0, right?

Jon, I don't even think that you believe what you just wrote and implied here. You know better than me that the 10 team had the best talent in 30 years. For that team to not beat the heck out of teams like MN, Indiana, Ark State and end up with how the season turned out, says all you need to now about that team and what was wrong. Great talent but the record did not indicate that. If you really believe that coaching was not THE MAJOR factor as to why that team did not have a good year, then I really don't know how I can argue with you on this.

And it would've helped a ton if that team was a little bit better at recovering onside kicks, or recognizing when a fake was coming, or if they had been able to manage the game clock a little bit better, right?

I just can not understand for the life of me why things like what I mentioned above keep happening over and over again. We haven't recovered the last 3 onside kicks that have come our way. We had a delay of game penalty in hurry up mode for crying out loud! These are things that need to be shored up and ran perfectly if you're going to run a team as conservatively as Kirk does, and it's so damn frustrating watching those mistakes not be corrected.

Great..Sounds like we will have "Ferentz for life" at Iowa. I don't blame them.. I would love to work and have my family work at an institution that will pay you 11-1 money for 6-6 seasons.

Also:
Belicheck, wide open???
Belicheck changes with his personnel. When he had better wideouts, he threw downfield. He now has the best group of tight ends in football. He features them.
He dinks & dunks now..

who coached those tight ends in new england last season?

Oh please. Like Brian Ferentz was the reason for their success? Gronk and Hernandez were and are ridiculously talented to start with. Don't take this as me bashing on Brian though. I am very glad that he was hired onto the staff, as I think he might be one of the only people that is able to help turn the program around. I like his fire and passion, and the fact the he infuses some youth into the staff. And he probably learned a lot from Belichick.

I'd take this as an encouraging sign. Belichick has run three widely different offensive schemes in New England: Pro style, spread, double-tight with the TE's being the go-to guys. He's demonstrated the ability to adapt to his personnel.

Having heard from some former players and how Ferentz has referred to the media in general behind closed doors, despised is in the ballpark. Like anything in life that blanket statement is probly a bit unfair as I doubt he feels that way about everyone

I can buy that, thanks. With all the new hires will we see better talent coming to Iowa City in time to save this coaching staff?

i wasn't crediting brian completely with their play. my point was, he's seen how to use strengths like that. i honestly believe CJF would be one of our top receivers right now if brian was more involved. to the rest of what you said about brian, i agree with. i think brian will be a very valuable addition to the iowa staff and it really has nothing to do with his last name

Alge Crumpler did, truth be told. If you think brain ferrets had anything to do with the success of teh Gronk and Hernandez, you're terminally stoned.

2010= Very bad coaching... Since that season Iowa has never recovered.

Furthermore with respect to KF despises the media comment. When he is speaking to the media that then gets reported to the fans. In this day and age some media are the fans. I think this would explain how people are getting very turned off with the Iowa program. I'm actually very surprised that with how KF comes across in these press conferences that the media has been able to restrain themselves for as long as they have. I watch his body language and his smirks and laughs and think how long until someone in the media gets tired of it and just let's it rip.. I think that time is coming..

I'd do it. Just give me media credentials. LOL..........it would be funny because I would be very emotionally composed as I asked him the question. Then he'd get ticked, then I'd ask again in a very composed manner. Then he'd blow a gasket. It would be ferentz exposed! I'd never get invited again to the presser.

That is why the reporters don't get real with him. Thye'd never get to come back.

Rich man who thinks he is better than you or I. $30 mil in the bank makes it that way--his family ethics are reflected in his favorite son, Brian, who stole housing from poor students. I'm guessing the Ferrets didn't pay back the university for that one. The same way he made IA pay his sons' tuition and fees for playing football at his program---look, he is better than you so don't question him.

gimee a break. lol.

hatteerrraaid !

You really think he'd get mad and blow a gaskett? My guess is he'd divert it and basically play it off like he does 95% of the questions that are asked to him. What makes you think that you'd be able to crack him and get answers when no one else does?

FreedComanche I Wasn't attempting to come at you with that. I'm just curious how it would be any different. I have a feeling that many have gone into interviews with that same mindset.

I don't think we'd ever see him "blow a gasket" in a presser. MAYBE in on the side, but never in front of the cameras.

He's doesn't pull a Mark "Next Question" Dantonio; he's more subtle than that, even if sometimes the same intent is there. More passive-aggressive when he starts getting ruffled than anything else.
