Ferentz said Weisman is Medically Cleared to Play

I mean you are just kidding yourself here. Not all "bum ankles" are created equal. This is a severe inside sprain. Again we will be lucky if hes back in two weeks, and its more likely that its Nov before hes close to 100%.

Earlier you said it was a high ankle sprain, now severe inside sprain. Did you you mean high severe inside sprain? You don't know shizz! I would be surprised if Weisman does not play this Saturday, but I don't have sources close to the program like you???

I know its sevrere because hes not on the depth chart and KF said hes doubtful. If it werent severe hed be playing and listed. I know its an inside sprain cause i saw hit happen. His left was planted and a defender drove into his legs from the outside. I know inside sprains are more serious than outside sprains and typically are "higher" sprains because Ive dealt with them. Use those lumps three feet above your ***** and think for youselves. Its really not that hard.

I watched this hit and I concluded that RGIII died.

Therefore I did not actually lose in fantasy, bince he had zero points while dead.

Hes got no shot. Its not surprising hes cleared, he was never un cleared. You cant further damage an ankle. They can talpe the **** out of it and he can go. The issue is he cant be effective. Hes probably 50-50 for two weeks from now at best but its like we wont see him until Nov. He might be able to play sooner at FB but I cant see that happening.

Can't? Really? Tell that to my surgeon when I was in college.

depends on the grade of sprain Sprained Ankle - OrthoInfo - AAOS

if grade 3, he wouldn't be cleared already, so that's good news. obviously not the "high ankle variety" for the same reason.

so, if grade 2, and probably an ATFL sprain where the sprain is on the outside/lateral side of the ankle (that's the most likely). very unlikely to have an "inside sprain" as Duff so eloquently/technically put it.

he'll be taped up so tight that his ankle won't budge, and if tough enough, should be able to play. whether or not he'll be effective will remain to be seen though.

Not that I expect him to be 100%, but perhaps some are missing the slightly positive side on being medically cleared which means he is eligible. If nothing more, this means Davis & Co now at least have the option to send in the big fella on 3rd-and-1 and tell him..."Don't cut, don't juke...just go straight ahead get us a first down."

Not to be disagreeable, but if that is all they will be using Weisman for, I'd rather they line Rogers up deep and give him the same pep talk.

I'm not sure it matters that much if Weisman plays or not in this particular game, for the following reasons:

1. Penn State has a terrific run defense and will stack the box to stop the Iowa running game. On the other hand, they have a very average defensive backfield. For Iowa to score points, vandy must play better and hit his open receivers. Penn State will take away the run, no matter who is back there.

2. Just like last week, if Iowa plays great defense and doesn't turn the ball over, they probably win. If they don't, they probably lose.

While, they may stack the box, they do not have a terrific run defense. Penn St is 6th in the B1G in run defense at 128.5 per game. Not great, not bad. They give up 3.7 ypc which is tied for 5th. Again not great, not bad. The way our O line has been blocking, I would expect us to exceed 128 yards in this game on the ground.

Ice the crap out of it!

No, use a needle.... ;) If he is getting a workout, he will have a chance this Saturday. Maybe just limited play in the 2nd half. Maybe not at all if our guys in are effective. Although, with the PSU rush defense, I doubt that will happen. PSU will have the 2nd highest ranked rush defense we have seen. ISU was the highest & we only rushed for 70 yards. Granted the Iowa O-line is much better now, than when we played ISU. IMHO.
JVB will finally have to put a game together. Or our D will have to score....
