They avg. 22.5 PPG against us under Fitz. The D is fine, it is the O that causes most of the problems.

Agreed. The night game vs them in 2011 (correct year, I believe) was a perfect example of how to best them. Out pace them. Get a stop here or there... But just keep scoring.
Now that was a fun game to watch us beat the nerds!

Thats true, our D is not built to stop that offense. But we arnt the only ones that have trouble stopping their offense. Its tough to have a D that is built to stop all the different Os in the Big Ten. But you make a very good point

OK, and (1)Michigan with the passing QB. (2)tOSU with its spread offense. (3)Indiana with its passing pistol. (4)PSU and (5)Wisky are passing the ball more. (6)Purdue with its passing offense. Of course, (7)NW.

Iowa's D can comfortably defend, IMO, Minnesota, MSU, Nebraska (as long as there's no effective passing in the system),

Illinois... Iowa just doesn't seem to play the Illini much in football.
When the Illini were a spread offense, Iowa's D had a tough time.
Lately, however, Illinois hasn't been very good.

Don't forget (everyone forgets) Iowa's lack of offensive playing time against NW because Iowa's defense is always on the field. No, Iowa's offense under KF has never been a 'quick strike' offense. Try to get a lot of points when you're on the sidelines a lot, and when you aren't, you run the ball a lot.

Yup.

Some losses against NU were just plain fluky and had bad luck. Stanzi going down in 2009, 5 turnovers and Greene getting knocked out with a dirty tackle in 2008 are two that come to mind right away.

Outlier. How about the 2008 football season when the Ricky Stanzi led Hawkeyes lost to the Illini? Outlier. Who'd iowa beat in the Outback Bowl that season? The Gamecocks?

Oh you mean the game where Iowa lost 27-24? The game where Illinois had a fumble return for a touchdown? The game where Iowa only managed 329 yards of offense? The game where Iowa was 3/14 on 3rd downs? The game where Iowa's defense held Illinois to 332 yards of offense?

If you are talking about that game, then the offense seemed to be more the problem that game then stopping Juice Williams and the Illini spread offense.

Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Illinois Fighting Illini - Box Score - November 01, 2008 - ESPN

Seems like Iowa's offense put up more than its average for points in that loss.

I also seem to remember an Illini? win against the good guys around that same time, a 14-17 loss?

You finally get your wish and KOK is canned, and, after one year, you're ready to can his replacement..... All yous defense lovers that blame Iowa's loses soley on the offense are biased.

?

What does this even mean?

Iowa beat Illinois in 2004 and 2006 in Champaign.

Iowa beat Illinois in 2003, 2005 and 2007 in Kinnick with 2003 and 2005 being beatdowns.

Iowa did not play Illinois in 2001, 2002, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

How many of those Illini teams had spread offenses? To my point (which you seem to be poking at), Iowa likely had problems against Illinois when they had spread offenses. As you've posted, IMO, Iowa's lucky they didn't play Illinois during its continuous years of spread offense, from 2009-2012.

A parrot. If you want Iowa's offense to score more points against NW, there has to be a more conducive atmosphere for Iowa's offense to score. More productive play calling AND somewhat effective defense against the cats.

So which one is it? Did Iowa's D have a tough time with Illinois' spread or was Iowa lucky they didnt have to play the Illini when they ran the spread? Are you getting dizzy from spinning in circles, Homer?

In 2007 and 2008 when Illinois ran the spread against an Iowa defense, Iowa didnt sturggle. Illinois scored an average of 16.5 PPG and 7 of those were from a fumble returned for a TD. Take that out and Illinois only scored 13 PPG.

Yeah, get with it, homer. Iowa's good.

I like your "kf sucks" schtick better than this one. This one is weak.

Clearly the only "schtick" he has is one where he intentionally ATTEMPTS to get under people's skin. He can't entertain himself by having a relevant conservation so he prefers one extreme or the other.

Fortunately most people are aware of this. Sooner or later Jon will probably drop the banhammer.

It truly is funny that you really do believe you got stuff figured out.
