According to Kirk, the Iowa-Nebraska Black Friday game will come back in 2022 after taking 2 years off in 2020 and 2021. And it will always be Iowa-Nebraska on Black Friday every year after that.

I am kind of disapointed to hear this. I was hoping they were going to some kind of rotation where Iowa, Neb, Wisc and Minn all rotate playing each other on Black Friday.

And whether fans like it or not it's always good for a program to have something unique about their season.

Kind of like how Detroit and Dallas always play on Thanksgiving. Then, like always, they had to screw it up and add a third game.

I'd rather it be a Black Friday game against Wisconsin annually. Easier trip to Madison than Lincoln every other year. Let the Huskers play Minnesota, if they want, on Black Friday.

Wisconsin is the rival we want. We get a competitive series with them...and it means something. I really think we have to assess where the Nebraska program is right now and determine if it makes sense to play them anymore on Black Friday. When you have taken 4 of 5 with three absolute beat downs...you just have to call it like it is. They are not on our level and don't warrant the Black Friday game.

Hey come on now, what about us Hawkeye fans on the west side? The Lincoln Municipal Landfill is only 3 and a half hours away for us and its 5+ to IC....;)

Yeah being a former NW Iowa boy I biasedly lean towards playing Neb on Black Fridays. All the crap I took in my childhood from Nebraska fans in the early 90s... The last handful of years has been nothing short of sweet for me and I'd love to keep that going.

@InGoodCo Where you at? A little help here?

FWIW, which ain't much, I can leave my house and in an hour and fifteen minutes be tailgating in downtown Madtown, five blocks from Camp Randall. If we eat beforehand on the west side or in Fitchburg you're talking under an hour.

I liked it better when we played Minnesota at the end of the year. Floyd is the best trophy we play for.
It was certainly a slice in 2002! The 1991 Danan Hughes "snow angel" game was another classic.

My two favorites were 1983 and 1986. In the first instance rumors were abound that Gopher coach Joe Salem would be fired after the game. Well another rumor popped up that he may have been fired during the game. In any instance, Minnesota completely quit in the second half, at least as bad as Nebraska did last year, and Salem was nowhere to be found on the sideline at the end. Hayden hinted that he may have had a ride and abandoned Kinnick sometime during second half.

In 1986, the goph's were much more competitive and Iowa starting QB Mark Vlasic was doubtful. Backup Tom Poholsky was a turnover machine in the first half, Chip Lohmiller hit a 62 yd. field goal at the half, and Iowa was lucky to be down only 17-0.

Vlasic came on in relief and sparked the Hawks. Peter Marciano (RIP) had a memorable punt return set up by perfect blocking. Houghtlin missed a chance to win from 52 yards out at the buzzer. Minnesota had twelve men on the field. Rob didn't miss his second chance. Not quite as dramatic as 1985 Michigan, but a game winner nonetheless.

True. But, you’re close to all the home games.

The nerve of a 6-6 program like Nebraska’s to think they belong on the same field as Iowa’s 7-5 program.

And a reasonable drive from Evanston, Champaign, or Ames. Could probably get to Lincoln or West Lafayette in six if I pushed it. Twin Cities in about five. Did you get to the Colorado game in Sioux Falls last December?

Nope, I left for an ice fishing trip that day but I wouldn't have been able to get tickets anyway. The Pentagon only holds 3,000 and they sold out in like 13 minutes.
