UI: All 13 players released for UIHC (Ferentz, Barta statements) | TheGazette

“Now that these students are out of the hospital and on the road to recovery, we can devote our full attention to determining what happened, and making sure it does not happen again,â€￾ said Ferentz. “There has been a lot of speculation by those who don’t have the facts and it is unfair and inappropriate for anyone to make wild guesses about what happened.â€￾

Seriously, though, a lot of the garbage that has come out of this mess has been pretty disguising.

Five Iowa football players discharged from hospital - ESPN

There's another example. At the end of the clip, these two talking heads come out of no where and say in no uncertain terms (one calls the facts self-evident) that Doyle and his assistants were trying to punish the players by physically injuring them, and that justified lawsuits are almost certainly coming against the program. They round it out by essentially saying that Kirk was also negligent in the situation.

Barf.

Right...they don't ask questions or report facts, they draw up their own speculation and draw up their own answers with little to no information.

That's not "reporting the news", it's more like The National Inquirer. Barf is right.

i don't comprehend the argument for lawsuits. has anyone been permanently injured? why sue the University otherwise? these kids going to throw their time at Iowa away because of something like this? can't imagine that'd be the case.....

No one is gonna sue. It was a freak accident and nothing more.

The players, no. Their parents? Anything's possible. They don't all have the perspective or class of Biff Poggi. The delusional fathers of Bain, Beutjer and Christensen come to mind.

do you think their parents would otherwise castigate their sons with a lawsuit? a lawsuit would definitely do such.

this is the way the media is. some call it the "drive by media" they drive by - throw a grenade - destroy everything in site - and just keep on driving by.

In a few days they will find somewhere else to throw a grenade. The media NEVER clenas up the mess they create.

Funny enough I've heard Poggi's dad was pretty pi$$ed off about the guy from the Mayo clinic who suggested the hospitalized players did something wrong.

ESPN has been hiring some real tools lately. Every time Forde writes an article, he proves to the world how little he knows about sports. Him and Todd McShay. Really ESPN, that is the best you can do??

With all the bridges Forde has burned over the years, I am surprised anyone even reads his garbage.

All out of the hospital in less than a week. Pretty much just like the South Carolina swimmers (out between 3-6 days after admission). It'll be interesting to see if somebody from the hospital says anything about if any have any lasting effects.

The good people don't want to work for ESPN.
