my food still tastes the same, they generate the money, they spend it.
What a sad state Iowa sports is in. Football team is ridiculousy bad. Basketball is nothing more than a mediocre team. Wresting has even lost it's once proud dominance. Sad state of affairs for sure.
1.2 million for 7 wins. and I thought Campbell had a ridiculous contract incentive for 6 wins (500k I think). Time to stop fundraising and go on the warpath (aka, fire barta and hire someone who kirk doesn't keep as a bottom)Barta, the master negotiator, sure knows how to incentivize mediocrity and underachievement. With a win against lowly Nebraska...thanks to our non-conference cupcakes:
Ferentz gets a $1.2M in bonuses by winning just 7 games and by going to a bowl game (woohoo, the Pinstripe Bowl!) and an extra $2.4M added to his buyout. Bonuses also for having just 67% of the team graduate. What a low bar!
Then there's the largely underachieving assistant coaches.
Coach Doyle, already the highest paid strength coach in the nation, will be getting an 8% pay raise on top of his $450,000 salary...totaling $36,000...his raise is more than the average Iowan makes in a year!
Coach Brian Ferentz, who climbed to the top of Kirk's coaching tree in just a few years, also gobbles up a $36,000 raise for guiding the 120th ranked offense in the nation. That's not even mediocrity. That's getting a nearly $40,000 raise for absolutely failing as a coach.
It's good to be an Iowa coach...even though it's painful to be an Iowa fan.

Well, the next AD will probably be a woman, so just think about that.Barta's STUPIDITY and APATHY incenticizes MEDIOCRITY.
AND if there was less revenue going towards KF's bloated salary there might be more $ available to improve game day amenities such as the warmed over crap they serve at the commoner's concession stand. Just to point out one example.
You guys that believe KF's bloated salary exists in a vaccuum are delusional.
Not to mention the settlement and millions of $$ that Barta cost the department.
Barta and his department are actually kind of a national joke imo.
Well, the next AD will probably be a woman, so just think about that.
That is what I fear, too. And I believe there is a greater than 50% chance of this happening.Well, the next AD will probably be a woman, so just think about that.
And the great thing is soon they will all get a tax break on their hard earned cashBarta, the master negotiator, sure knows how to incentivize mediocrity and underachievement. With a win against lowly Nebraska...thanks to our non-conference cupcakes:

L.S.Cry me a river. You guys want everyone fired.
Bad year, fire the coach and AD.
Average year, fire the coach and AD for not overachieving.
Great year, fire the coach and AD for not doing it more.
Two years ago the Hawks were in the top 3 in football, basketball and wrestling in the same year. And yep, people complained.
That is what I fear, too. And I believe there is a greater than 50% chance of this happening.
If it does, you can pretty much stick a fork in Iowa athletics. In a few years we will long for the days of 7 win football seasons.
