Coming into the year I thought of McNutt as 4th round type guy with a pretty high ceiling for rising. Pretty clearly he's improved his game enough to rise in my book. I'd say late 2nd-early 3rd round grade at this point. He's polished his route running skills and looks better getting out of breaks.

Reiff is solidly in the top 3 OT prospects for this year's draft class and is pretty much a consensus top 20 talent. He's said a couple of times that he wants to stay but we'll see come January.

i find it hard to believe he'd be willing to pass up that kind of money. and the good thing about going in the back half of the 1st round is that you're usually going to a quality team, like Bulaga did.

He doesn't seem real consumed with the NFL at this point. Remember Robert Gallery. He could've went after his junior year as well, but stuck around. Hopefully Reilly will do the same.

Very goo point. This would be really a great thing for our offense next year.

McNutt is a steal if he goes after the mid to late second round, IMHO. This is a deep WR draft, so this is a possibility, but we'll see as the year progresses.

I don't recall hearing that Reiff bought the insurance for his JR year. When that happens, that usually is indicative of a guy who really is intent on improving and staying. As others have alluded though ... a lot of things could change though.

I would assume that he is long gone after this year. You stand a lot to lose and little to gain if you pass on the draft when you are expected to go 1st round.

I thought McNutt would go late 3rd round coming into the year.
But then again, I don't know crap about drafts and how NFL teams decide on who they will take.

I don't see Reiff as a 1st rounder - maybe late-2nd at best.

McNutt is an interesting proposition. He doesn't have the speed that you look for in a wideout but he does excel with his hands - great hands. I could see him going to a New England in the 4th round as possession type receiver. He won't move into the 1st or 2nd round due to lack of speed.

A name on the 'rising' list that made me laugh was Osemele. The kid had pre-season 1st team All American honors. How is he a rising star? Oh wait, he just wanted to throw a name on the list to say he called one right. In addition, Osemele is playing himself out of the first round. He can't stay healthy and hasn't exactly excelled on his run blocking this year.

Good Lord......
First of all, Iowa's NFL players (7th most of any college in America) are rarely over-rated by these pinheads who try to predict the NFL draft.
Secondly, my wife could have told you 2 years ago that Marvin McNutt would be playing on Sundays.

The only way Reiff comes back is if he feels he's in same situation that Gallery was. If he feels that he's about a late 1st to 2nd rounder and by coming back it could propel him to be a top 5 pick. it's such a coin flip it's a tough call I'd hate to try and give him advice one way or the other and then he gets hurt or drafted lower then he'd hoped.

This isn't true anymore. Now that all draft pick salaries are slotted its not near as important where you go in the draft. The difference between first round and second round money is much much less than it was under the previous CBA.

Now the emphasis is getting to that first free agent contract as soon ascent possible. As a result you are going to see more underclassmen declare early so they get to that first FA year ASAP. The slotting of rookie salaries is a big reason so many HS kids and college freshman were opting to enter the draft so early.

I wish/hope/think Reiff should stay. He hasn't dominted like we were all hoping (IMO). I think he needs a big year with a little better team and he will be that top 10 pic.

againn being a top 10 pick just isn't important anymore. what is important is being drafted as soon as possible, making roster, making an impact, and getting that first free agent deal.

or just ultimately being good enough to play. I think he needs another year.

we will get as good or better coaching on an nfl team did he will at Iowa, and teams are not going to cut a second round pick no matter how poorly performed in camp.

from a pure business and career perspective he be foolish not to go this year.
