Fantasy Football

I've been playing in the same league with the same core group of guys 21 years now. I won the league two-years-in-a-row once. Another year I went thru the season undefeated until the playoffs. Our season went too deep into the end of the NFL season at that point, and I got the proverbial screw job with teams resting my players prior to the playoffs and lost. That was a downer. I had my top two RB's like in the top 4 spots of player rankings with one in the #1. I think I had Andrew Luck which would have been his break-out season and really only kick-ass season he had. All planets lined up that year. Damn I had a hell of a team that year.

I hear you. I've been in a cash league with some friends for what seems like the last 20 years. I'm famous for constantly over achieving and finding my way into the championship only to get pummeled once I get there. Last year was the first year we'd ever had someone go undefeated leading up to the Championship, and as usual yours truly found a way to muck it up lol.

Great points. The other thing about the QB position worth noting is that outside of maybe the top 5 QBs the difference between average point totals is incredibly tight so there may be very little difference between weekly point totals between say the #6 rated QB and the #20 rated QB. It's become a RB and WR game as the gap between the elites and even the superstars at those positions make it worth taking those players early.

I'm in quite a few cash leagues and ironically seeing Kelce and Kittle coming off the board before some of the tier 1 QBs is becoming an increasingly common trend.

Yep, exactly. It's all about knowing the margin of replacement value for each position. Draft the guys early that have a huge drop off at their position. That's why I tend to take a TE early while the elite ones are there. If it's a PPR with 3 WRs and I'm drafting towards the end of the 1st round, I'll actually draft a couple of top WRs and then a TE with my 3rd pick.

You can then grab receiving backs that get a ton of targets in the middle rounds. They put up almost as many points as a lot of lead backs because of the PPR. While you're drafting your RBs, others are drafting their WRs and TEs that are 2nd tier by then with a much larger drop off than your RBs.

Then of course hope for luck in that your guys stay mostly healthy.
