Fans: Adam will require time and patience

Welcome Adam, I'm thrilled that you decided to become a Hawkeye and wish you nothing but success. I hope the fans understand that it will take time for Adam to develop into an all-big ten center and be patient, he is not Sullinger but I love his potential, the last high rated center that came in was Jared Reiner, and even though he turned into a nice role player he never developed into the dominant player many fans predicated

I was going to post similar sentiments. I think he can easily develop into a great center, but let's try not to put the weight of the entire program on this class as freshmen. It's not going to happen overnight.

Can you imagine how much better the Iowa team this year would be if they had a Jared Reiner right now? I know Reiner did not play up to all the expectations but at the end of the day he did have a pretty good career and collected a few pro pay checks as well.

Sorry bud, this program is back and if I go to a game against a top rated program and we don't win, I am reserving the right to boo and demand that Fran be fired.

Two more words: Jim Bain. Even with the best team, Iowa, in all sports, can attribute the majority of its losses to officiating.

Six more words, "Who forgot to flush the toilet?" Cuz' the op threw up a stinker on this one.

While I agree with the OP, I have to say that Adam is way ahead of where Jepsen and Reiner were in their freshman development. The level of competition that he has played is basically a good college level. Given that, he is still 18, slight, and he will take time to adjust to more powerful bodies. He does possess very good footwork and has a shot already so even though I don't see him making the same impression Basabe did as freshman, he could suprise. Its a great day to be a Hawkeye!!!!

Fortunately for Adam, "patience" is the only thing Iowa basketball fans have known for the past 12 or 13 years ... With Alford, it was always "well, wait until next season." With Lick, it was "well ... not sure where this train is headed." The college game changed tremendously the past 10 years. Now, many teams place true freshmen and sophomores on the court. And with the increase of AAU camps and other tournaments, I think players are becoming better by the competition they are facing in the off season. I think Woodbury is definitely ahead of where Jared was ... He is a different player. Much more mobile. Jared had a nice career at Iowa ... There will always be the naysayers but for the most part, I think Iowa fans will remain patient with this coaching staff because they can actually see the pieces of the puzzle coming together.

I don't think Reiner equates to Woodbury at all. Alford was HORRIBLE at coaching big men or "bigs" as he always said.

This thread is very true, but Fran is starting to inject talent back into this program. Much better times are right around the corner. Give it a year or two, but we'll be much better soon. Can't wait!

And the rest of the Big Ten is probably saying "Son of a...."

That one dude on here thinks Olaseni is going to average a double-double... so that means Adam will be like 50 times better than that.

What a premonition, O'Keefe. Iowa got completely jobbed by the officials today and pretty much every game they have played in March during Woodbury's tenure. A few bad calls are all that is standing between Iowa and multiple national titles during Woodbury and Gesell's illustrious careers at Iowa.
