Fair weather fan on the morning radio.

"Just because I am not going to sit here and tickle your bottom with a feather when Iowa is in the midst of its worst three year run in program history, that makes me a hater." -Miller

That is one of the funnier things I've read on here in a long time. Love it!

I wouldn't really like to see it, but I would like to see it to believe it.

Just a guess, but if Jon was such a "fair weather fan," I doubt he would get along so well with stormin, who seems to be the opposite of a "fair weather fan."

He wants to get rid of the coach on the radio. He is lazy these days picking on the easy things like the crowd. No excuses, but I have only made it two games. Have you driven on the roads to IC this year...THEY SUCK? Anyway he talks about the crowd and beats the easy targets like a dead horse. Can we talk about the recruits coming in???? Can we talk about the improvement from year one to year three? Can we discuss how May and Fuller are improving? Can we talk about how Alford broke the attendance sellout string not Todd. The fans have been talking for 7 years. Alford left this team with nothing much. His recruits were not coachable for the most part. That is why we peaked year after year in December (minus the tourney ;) ). Now for the 3rd straight year we get better at the end of the year. John is just a bully that is forgetting how to break down a team not winning. He does the same crap during baseball season. Cubs winning Jon breaking it down. Cubs losing the Royals are his team and "they suck so I must be a true fan" give me a break. I like when Jon is breaking things down giving stats, but I think he is in a run needs a vacation because he is mailing it in lately.

What the hell are you talking about?...''Alford broke the attendance sellout string not Todd'' ...check the facts..please..attendance was dipping under Mr. Davis when SA took over...and it went up until 03..then dipped and bottomed out in 05..then came up slightly in 06 and 07 then fell off the table when lick came...

You sound like a deranged cub fan alright...most of them are delusional and avoid the facts...Sox supporters are reality-based fans...when we stink,we admit it and seek accountiblity for those responsible for winning...and thankfully most Hawks fans are the same.

What Iowa has done this year has improved from getting their heads handed to them earlier in the year.

Like I have posted before, now the hard part comes--winning games against the middle and upper division Big 10 teams, not just the bottom feeders like Iowa and teams that have lost their best players.

AND Lickliter has a long long ways to go to bring back the fanbase with his style of keepaway bb. Some of you might not mind it but many Iowa fans just do not like this style of ball. But remember many of you are also the same people that are attending the games now, not the people that Lickliter has to draw back to Carver.

As I posted before, having lived in IC for 20 years and having grown up in eastern Iowa, the lifelong Iowa fans that I know probably are not going back to Carver and they were mainstays for many many years. They just shake their heads when I talk to them about lick ball, they simply do not like it. How is Lickliter going to get fans like that back? Those are fans that have been watching Iowa bb for 30 to 50 years and they want nothing to do with Lickliter's brand of bb. Some are fairly big donators. They have tried keepaway bb and they simply do not like it. They won't be coming back until Lickliter is gone.

With fans like Jon Miller who needs fans. Every morning I have to listen to how terrible this Iowa basketball team is. Just because Jon can’t make any money on a basketball team rebuilding don’t be a hater. I suppose Northwestern is not bound for the NCAA and isn’t a good win. I think Northwestern will be in the top 100 so that stat can be adjusted from todays radio commentary. I will make it my mission to make sure when Iowa is a top 7 seed year after year in the NCAA tourney to remind Jon Miller that he gave up, wrote off and failed The University of Iowa when they were down. Jon is a fair weather Cub fan, fair weather Hawkeye basketball fan and proving to me that you are not a true Hawkeye fan (for better or worse). I wish I could simply turn on and off when I am a fan when things are not going so great or in Jon Millers case when he isn’t making big money off the team. I can’t wait to hear how you spin this victory to not mean anything tomorrow morning! Maybe Miller will waste another day on the radio talking about hypothetical situations like a Florida coach is leaving when he has not. Just another Iron clad prediction that Jon bet on that did not happen. Why can't there be a local sports radio show on another channel?

Cubbie just hit one out of the park. You are right, he is classic fair-weather, follow the easy critical path, be the sheep, not the herder, etc. I could go on.

What an idiotic post. I guess I see Jon as just giving his honest take on things. Personally, I'm glad he's not just a Hawk homer blowing smoke.

Jon seems to be a pretty level headed objective guy to me. I see improvement in this team, and last night was probably best effort in Lick's 3 years. But, objectively, we are still 9th/10th place with a 25% winning percentage in B10, and in the worst 3 year stretch in Iowa BB history. We will be better next year, but who can say what that will mean in B10 wins and losses. It just seems a real stretch to mme to see a Lick team ever truly competing at the top level of the B10 unless recruiting improves by leaps and bounds. Hope, I'm wrong; but I'm not giddy about 8-10 or even 9-9 B10 seasons.

Then I hope you stay away because I forsee Todd being in the position for a long time.

Enjoy Alfraud in your new state.

Hi Jon

Just a question (without intent) but do you go to the press conferences and ask these questions you pose on the message board? They seem like fair questions and you being in the media I just wonder if you had the opoortunity.

Also I think it is very clear that you are an Iowa fan and want the best for all Hawkeye sports and are just raising questions.

I have not been to an Iowa press event since media day this year. We have coaches on the show from time to time, rarely, due to the time of day the show is on. Any time I have criticized a coach, I have at some point brought that question up to their face. I have done it with Kirk, with Norm, with Ken OKeefe, with Todd, with Alford, etc. It may not be that week, but I bring it up because I only think its fair.

My opinions are just that; my opinions. They are not always right, not always wrong, not always negative, not always positive, not always popular.

My biggest criticism of Todd so far this year was after last monday's presser where he said John should have been playing more earlier in the year. At some point I will ask him if he was lashing out a bit by saying that, or what he meant by it.
