Experimental rule changes for NIT

I'd like to see overtime start by giving all players that haven't fouled out, an extra foul to give (move it to 6 fouls to foul out). Something I've always thought, for the fan's sake, to see the best players on the court in overtime. Imagine an Iowa-ISU game where Jok, Cook, and Bohannon have fouled out and Morris, Long, and Burton have fouled out. We're letting the best players get the game to OT (or double/triple OT) and letting the bench guys decide it. Just my personal opinion, which I could definitely see arguments against.
I've had this thought for a while and for the reason you mentioned. I think it would be a good idea. Like you, I can see arguments against, but it's a rule they could experiment with in the NIT sometime.

GO HAWKS!!!

I'd like to see everyone get a 6 foul limit in general. I've always thought 5 was too few

For anyone who didn't see the NIT selection show, they briefly talked about a few experimental rule changes they are going to try out in the NIT. To summarize:

Each half will have two ten minute segments

Each team will be allowed four personal fouls per segment. After that teams will shoot two free throws (no one and ones)

Each team will be allowed three fouls in an overtime period before free throws are awarded.

I apologize if I got any of this wrong. They only talked about these changes briefly.

So you're saying that once again the men's rules going to mimic the women's rules?

How about going to the old ABA rule where a player doesn't actually foul out. However, if a player that has more than the disqualifying number of fouls commits a foul, the player fouled shoots the free throws and his team then gets the ball out of bounds at midcourt. Sure, you can play your star after what would normally be a disqualification, but "it's gonna cost ya, Chief!"

I'd like to see a rule that you cannot pass it into the backcourt on an out of bounds play after you have already passed mid court.

This is what you get with too many "middle managers"...a bunch of manufactured "change" that's not necessary. People trying to justify their existence.
I do think the game needs to be sped up, though, And too many games end up being free throw battles.

Indiana and Kansas combined for 63 charity balls in their game this year.

I prefer rule changes that encourage less fouls. I'd prefer not to watch a free throw shooting contest and see a game with some actual flow.

I wasn't sure what to think of the changes in the women's games but I think it's made an overall positive impact on the game.

A club for which I proudly claim membership!

Watching that show is like Homer Simpson watching the CFL Draft :)

What about the experimental rule that a player is not out-of-bounds if only one foot is out-of-bounds while touching the ball?

Are they continuing with that rule for the NIT or was that just within the boundaries of the state of Minnesota?

That's the pros where you need both feet in. In college you only need one.

It will be a 4 quarter game. The ladies have been playing like this all year. At the start of the quarter I think they use the held ball to determine who gets the ball to start the next quarter.

I don't thing the possession arrow should decides who gets the ball 2nd half. It sucks when you make a play to cause a jump ball and get possession, only to lose possession at the beginning of the second half.

Then I take it you would like to see an actual jump ball to start the second half? Just asking.

That's actually a thing?

From what I understood of the NIT selection they just meet at the Hoboken VFW ('cause they still let you smoke in there) and draw all the JUCO schools out of a bingo cage. Seeding goes first come first serve by how soon the teams put down their half of the gym rental.

I did hear that this year they're going to tear your ticket stubs in half because people were trying to use last year's green ones.
