Expansion's effect on wrestling?

Haven't seen this brought up yet. Some of you more knowledgable guys have opinions on what a these expansions would do to the sport of wrestling? If the big 12 splits up and interbreeds out west what effect would that have on OSU, OU? How many Pac10 schools wrestle? Adding Nebby/Misery to the big ten would be good for the conference's wrestling right? Thoughts?

this would be crazy when it comes down to seeding at big tens a lot of good guys won't make it to the dance

Shouldn't make much difference. If expansion should happen the New Big 10 will have more automatic qualifiers than they do now plus you have the at-large qualifiers based on season's strength or whatever they call it.

Or they could eventually go to regional qualifiers for the National tournament instead of conference qualifiers...

Is there any chance with the mass exodus of the big 12 that when ISU is left as a solo act, they would end up in the western regional with UNI?

California produces some studs and with Okie State in the Pac 10 that would make them look even more attractive to those kids than they already did.

this whole thing is going to mix up a lot of **** glad im not organizing it once its finalized

True of false? I had heard somewhere that the big ten requieres schools to have wrestling. If that is true what do they do if a school comes in without a program?

It will be interesting to see how things work out for wrestling once the dust settles. Obviously Nebraska is taken care of. If Missouri ends up in the Mountain West I would guess that they join the Western Regional with the likes of UNI, Air Force, Northern CO, etc... If Oklahoma and Oklahoma State end up in the Pac 10 they would all go to the Western Regional just join the Pac 10 wrestling conference which is a little different than the football Pac 10.

ISU on the other hand is hard to gauge at this point because nobody seems to know if they'll end up in any conference for any sports or where they might go. I've heard rumblings of the MAC conference which does have there own wrestling conference as well and would provide good competitino with Central Michigan and Kent St, etc... If they don't go to the MAC then I would have to imagine that they would have to go to the Western Regional as well but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

False, but when you are in the B10 and you have the BTN money coming in, hopefully we won't have to see programs cancelling sports.
