IMO the reason the number is still odd after this "offer" is because this is only an attempt to help force ND's hand, or at the very least, see where they stand. The other three will join, given the opportunity. So, if ND is out, we're looking for 2 schools still or settling with 14. If ND is in, they're the 12th and we'll have to figure out how to put a '12' in the Big 10 logo...

I really like Virginia and Maryland.

I also agree that the City schools are out. I say start a City Schools league and a religious league.

I think that we can be pretty sure that it won't be any city schools

no Syracuse
no Cincinnati
no Pittsburgh
no Louisville

If the Big Ten wanted a city school they would have already invited Pitt

viable options

Kentucky
Maryland
West Virginia (not really)

Any of those would be good.
