EXPAND THE TOURNAMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last year the first round games were almost all chalk. It varies from year to year.

Expanding the tournament is a bad idea from every perspective with the possible exception of money. The first round would be games between the bottom 32 teams in a 64-team field and another 32 teams that wouldn't even be in otherwise. None of them have a realistic shot at the NC. Why bother?

If it happens, it could prove to be one of the worst decisions in the history of the event.

I think most coaches would be in favor of expanding the tourny. It could mean more coaches keeping their jobs longer. If they expand the tounry I hope they end the conference tournaments and get rid of the automatic bids. Be sure that the NCAA will come up with something like the BCS to get the "correct" 96 teams into the dance. My only wish is that ESPN would get the rights so they can put games on all their sister stations instead of having to purchase some special thing from direct tv.

I understand not wanting change but here are some facts for some of your valid arguments.

The NIT is a joke. It's not able to support it's self and some of the teams invited to the NIT lose money. The money generated would help the teams that would be in the NIT not have to take a lose to be involved in a post tournament team.

The argument that it would bring team that don't deserve it can be said for a lot of the automatic qualifiers from the smaller conf. IE Lehigh 179 RPI North Texas 164. If you look at KENPOM you'll see that the majority of the teams with RPI over 50 to 96 are left home. You can't tell me that North Texas has a better chance of winning a opening game then Arizona ST, U-Conn and Miss ST????

More expansion means more crazy upsets, which means my brackets are in the crapper on day one.

Come on, Vandy! Why'd you have to lose to Murray State? Kevin Stallings is off of my list as of today. We don't want a coach that loses to Murray State in the first round.

Really? That is dumb. We don't want a coach who goes to the NCAA Tourney way more than we have been in the last decade? Nice work.

Just because the NIT blows doesn't mean those teams deserve bids to the dance. Conference champions absolutely deserve invites, even if they have no chance to win. The tourney is supposed to be a reward...I just wish the automatic bid would go to the regular season champion that proved it over 16+ games, instead of a tourney champ who got hot over 4 games.

I don't need to see 17-15, 9th place ACC or Big10 teams getting invites...they did nothing to earn it. Would you say that UNC deserved a bid this year?
