Ex-Hawkeye Brunner has had buona pro career

Networking around Des Moines? I just don't get that. I mean, he traveled the world, became a better person, and at the end of his first career, he's going to...Des Moines?

Maybe this had something to to with it.

Yep. That award for best medium-sized metro homeownership by Nerdwallet is certainly gives the Dez a leg up on Italy. Because if the definitive test of a city's value is a random, click bait "best of" list on some website.

Couple of things...

I find it interesting how you singled out the most "unknown source" yet a majority of the rankings are from well known sources.

Secondly, I have seen this this all to often where people from larger cities get the "superior" attitude out and rip on cities like Des Moines without even have been here or knowing all the facts. Those of us who are from here and live here know how good we got it. The better we keep the secret, the better we keep out the nut jobs.

A leopard, just can't hide it's spots. I mean Des Moines is no Davenport, but it has it's pluses.

Water quality????

I will never judge someone and their choices. If Des Moines is right for him then so be it. Right now Des Moines is right for me will I die here I don't know. I have had many opportunities to live in other cities, but find Des Moines has everything I look for in life.

My personal top 5 for where I live right now

1) No to little traffic (I don't want to spend a large chunk of life stuck in traffic nor have to plan around it)
2) There is plenty to do if you keep an open mind and enjoy what you have to do and not long for what you don’t have
3) I am half way to traveling everywhere in the US
4) Really good people and smart
5) Still pretty safe life (crime does seem to be on a rise and would like to see that change)

Screw all those ratting list what is right for you is right for you. If you want to live in Italy do it, but I think it's strange to judge someone who didn't. When it comes down to it no matter where you choose to live you are still looking at that place through the same set of eyes.

I hear you loud and clear, Jake....
