My anger with the committee not selecting a B1G team for the playoffs is tempered by the fact it was Iowa that kept Ohio State and Urban Meyer out of consideration, apparently.

This season it seems like it wasn't the team most deserving to be #4, it was who was least undeserving of #4. Alabama played a laughable schedule. Basically, Iowa's in 2015. Ohio St lost by 31.

Long term, this is not setting a good precedent for the Big Ten Conference Champion. 2 years in a row the Big Ten Champion has been left out.

This is starting to set a precedence that you might not want to make your conference championship. The loser of that game is guaranteed to be out of the CFP but if you are sitting outside looking in the committee seems more forgiving.

It kind of invalidates the conference championship games

But when you consider OSU played another game, vs a top team, in the conference championship while Alabama avoided another loss by not being eligible...well...

Well what I don't get is the conference gets slammed for not being competitive. So a good loss for Ohio State is only to Penn State or Michigan. A loss to any other team in the Big is bad. Which way do they want it competitive for every team except Ohio State l guess!

One would think this would be one reason for expanding the playoffs to 8 teams. As it is 2 P5 conference champs were left out of the CFP this year; tOSU and USC in favor of a media darling that sat home yesterday; the third place team in the SEC.

I learned 2 obvious things today: Conference championships are simply a money grab and if you are a power 5 team it serves no purpose to have a difficult non conference schedule. If you can get out of those games and bring in a MAC bottom feeder you do it.
