Evanston Question

Have never been there for a game.

Any ideas on the scalper market out there? I would hope that the lopsided loss to Michigan has dampened the spirits somewhat.

Trying to decide on buying Tickets from the University or waiting & buying out there at the game.

You can buy them at face through the ticket office. They hardly ever sell out. If that doesn't work, you can easily scalp them at the game. I've been over there many, many times, and never had a problem getting into the stadium

They were still advertising tickets for sale through Northwestern today on ESPN1000 here in Chicago

Scalper market may be effected by it bein NW's homecoming.

That said, it's a terrible stadium and mediocre tailgating experience.

But the more Iowa fans we can get there, the better!

Game will not be a sell out never is, so either option you will be fine. Scalper market is not that big of demand for N' Western, do not pay anymore then $47, and any ticket is fine it is a small stadium.

If you buy a scalped ticket and your group is not large you can find some empty seats somewhere depending on how many hawk fans will be there.

I bet 20-25000 hawk fans will be there.

I'd test the market at the stadium. If you can't land any, the ticket office will sell you two right before the game and you'll save the internet processing charge and stuff like that. Homecoming should have little bearing on NU fan attendance - every NU alum/football fan within 90 minutes of Evanston already has season tickets and they aren't exactly the kind of people who want to travel back for games.

I've heard the opposite. I've heard it's a pretty decent stadium to watch a game in, at least the actual game experience.

It is - no bad seats unless you get obstructed view seats under the overhang on the west side. The concession area is pretty decent, too - bunch of local vendors down there selling stuff so it isn't all typical stadium food. Only problem is the bathroom line during big games. There just aren't enough bathrooms so they bring in porta-potties. Very amateur.

The whole northwestern experience is great. Great fans; a fascinating old stadium, right next to Lake Michigan. Plus, it will be a beautiful time of the year in Evanston. The tailgating is fine. It is a great road trip

Very helpful responses. Thanks to all who responded. I think I will take my chances at the stadium.
Anxious to get up there..
Oldest son flying in from California for the game. Second oldest son coming from Iowa City. Youngest son coming with me.
Been a lot of years since we have all been together at the same game.

I agree with this. Not sure why people always bag on NU and the FB experience.
Quaint stadium. Food is decent. Tickets are fairly easy to get at a good price.
Always lots of Hawks there. Easy to get there via train. Bars within four blocks are decent.
You have to try "Mustard's Last Stand"....a B1G icon location for sure.

I've been probably a dozen times. Always enjoy the atmosphere.

Edit: If you want a truly pathetic FB experience, go to Indiana, Illinois or Purdue. I've been to all of them...they all suck.

Right next to Lake Michigan? uh...not really. Compared to Iowa yes...but the stadium is about a mile from the Lake Michigan shore. There's no view or lake vibe at Ryan Field.
