ESPN's ten fearless predictions.....

The ESPN Big 12 blogger toeing the line for his conference? No way!

Seriously though, Ubben is a ****** and Rittenberg would be wise to go over to his desk and nut punch him.

Last year Ubben got 2 right and 3 half right. He correctly predicted Texas would throw the ball 35 times vs. Oklahoma and that Daniel Thomas would lead the Big XII in rushing. He was half right on OU and Texas both making BCS bowls, Baylor making and winning a bowl, and ISU being better than Colorado and Kansas but having a worse record. He was wrong about Aldon Smith leading the conference in sacks, TTU finishing in the top 3rd in TO margin and bottom third in points against, Brandon Weeden leading the league in completion percentage, Texas leading the league in scoring defense, and Kansas being the most improved team by the end of the season.

He also said Tiller should be ready to fill Arnaud's shoes in 2011...about that...

Hardly fearless ... I predicted the same yesterday. Just a feeling.

Better, more experienced Iowa teams have lost to worse ISU teams at Trice. It will only be game 2 so the defense will barely be collecting itself. (Please, don't re-gurg that tired one about greatest improvement between game 1 & 2. Iowa rarely plays by that used up cliche -- slow and steady over 2 months I'll buy, game 1 to game 2 not so much.

Certainly wouldn't be surprised if ISU beats Iowa in Ames. It has happened many, many times before.

That game will be the first real test for Vandenberg, because ISU will blitz and blitz often....

what is it with some of the iowa fans here? first real test for Vandy? Really? OSU was what? scrimmage?

This is true. JVB's trial by fire was in front of 105,000 rabid fans in the horseshoe. Playing in front of 50,000, where about 10,000 at least will be Iowa fans, is nothing.

The point is that his first test was 2 years ago. How much time did he get in last year? It does matter, contrary to what you few may think. In other words, his first test was two years ago. Time can erase memory, especially when you are only playing spot minutes the following year. He's going to be rough around the edges. It's ok.
