Wow. There are some teams that are off the chart bad now. Lots of miss in the pre-season ranking.

I agree. Fran should be fired. I mean taking Iowa to the NCAAs in his fourth year from the worst the Iowa program has been in a couple of generations. Horrible job.

No one thought preseason this team was going to challenge for the big ten championship. That's revisionist history. Iowa's schedule was going to be the toughest conference schedule. It's arguably in the top three in the conference with double-ups vs. Wis, MSU, Mich, OSU, Minny.

The bar after last season was that Fran had to have this team in the NCAAs or he was going to be in trouble. The hope was that the team could possibly reach the round of 16.

Guess what? Fran is going to have the team in the NCAAs and there is still hope that this team can reach the Sweet 16.

I think Fran is right at the expectation level but not exceeding them. If Hawks finish 11-7 I'd be slightly disappointed but not majorly disappointed given the talent I think the hawks have.

Indiana, Gonzaga, Oklahoma State, and Ohio State look very overrated.

Wichita state looks better, Arizona looks better, Wisconsin wasn't even ranked.

Yep. It's not hard to expect Kansas, Duke, MSU, etc. to be good teams, but preseason polls are often just a guessing game.

I thought this year's team would end up around 4th or 5th, with a shot at 3rd. Exactly where we are at.
