that article seems right on. Hawks are Tampa bound. Gophers are the odd rodents out.....might want to sell out your stadium once in a blue moon.

The only way I think Iowa doesn't get the Outback Bowl is if somehow Michigan State falls out of the top 14 of the final BCS standings, which is quite unlikely.

Best scenario for Iowa is for MSU to squeak out a victory over tOSU. That will put tOSU vs Alabama in the Orange bowl, MSU to the Rose, Whisky to the Capital 1 and Iowa to Outback. Probably not optimal for the B!G to have the Buckeyes miss the NCG though.

Worst scenario for Iowa is to have tOSU totally stomp MSU. If MSU falls out of the top 14 the Rose will be between a rock and a hard place w/ the anniversary edition of the Jan 1 classic. It's possible (not likely) that MSU may not get the nod in Passadena and possibly drop to the Capital 1. Whisky then goes to the Outback. In this case Iowa ends up in the BWW.

I think what will happen is that tOSU will win a close one against Sparty. Buckeyes get to the NCG, Sparty to the Rose, Whisky to Capital 1, Iowa to the Outback, Michigan to the BWW. The B!G has to be hoping for this outcome as they will be well represented on Jan 1st.

Now if these teams will just win their games....

Hey goofy fans, if you want a better bowl next time show up for whatever lower level bowl you get selected for this year. Even when the weather sucks down here like it does now, it's still better than Minnesota weather.

"If Iowa wins its next two games they’d be looking at the Outback in the Two Up."

These things really aren't too tough to peg three or so weeks out in most years...now, once this system is replaced by next year's new Big Ten bowl slotting, that changes..it will be very difficult because the Big Ten is going to take a hand in the making matchups and the whole different team five of six year deal

What impact do you think the Big Ten will have? Will it favor teams like MSU or Minnesota, teams that did well but do not have the fan following to get into these better bowls?

Not sure exactly what you are asking...are you talking about the arrangements in the future? If so, it will help a MN some years by default cuz say Iowa went to Outback twice in a five year span, and they are both in mix in year six, Outback gets MN

If tOSU is in the NC game wouldn't Sparty get the automatic BCS bid?

You mentioned that the Big Ten will "take a hand in the making matchups", I am just wondering if you had an idea as to what impact they will have on the bowl match ups. Right now the Bowls take whoever makes them the most money so teams like Minnesota or Northwestern, who typically do not travel well, get passed over. So do you think the Big Ten is looking to make it more fair or will they also have an eye on ratings, prestige, that sort of thing?

If MSU were to drop out of the top 14 in BCS rankings they wouldnt have to be given the Rose bowl bid if osu in champ game.

Remember if MSU loses tomorrow they will not be big 10 champs and they would have to be in that top 14 to be in that automatic pool to be an invitee to a BCS game.

If they were ranked 16th I would still think the Rose Bowl would try to get them. Which would you want in the rose bowl Stanford vs Sparty or vs Baylor.

I bet the Rose Bowl committee would want sparty. The sexy game would be Arizona ST vs a baylor.

I love the top 5 bowl tie-ins, going forward.
Rose, Capital One, Outback, Holiday and Gator/Music City.
What's not to like about Pasadena, Orlando, Tampa, San Diego during bowl season?!

Jacksonville and Nashville, can either be 30 or 60 degrees this time of year, but, living in Nashville, it's a great place to live and a great place for tourists. The Music City Bowl committee, headed by Scott Ramsey, rolls out the welcome mat.

I don't love the idea of Delany getting involved with match-ups.
It seems like the Bowls are sorting that out between themselves.
I know the last bowl in the pecking order dreads getting Minnesota, and that's the only benefit I see, but, overall, I feel that it will cause more problems with Delany's input.
I mean, this is the same guy who came up with Legends and Leaders.

For example, the Outback Bowl Committee has no problem selecting Iowa for the 4th time in 11 years.

I think the league is looking to be more appealing to bowl cities, as well as to jury-rig better matchups.
