ESPN says surprise if not Outback

USC has Tampa fatigue and has not been to Dallas for Cotton. LSU has been to Cotton and Chik fil et a lot. UGA is coveted in Jacksonville, Aggies are attractive to Dallas for a lot of reasons. So pecking order is follwed but then circumstances suggest the don't pick the team you might think.

Then layered in is the match up its self. Both TV "brand" and on the field competative game. Sometimes it all comes together. Othertimes you're chosing among competing priorities.

It is all very fascinating to me.

Outback almost always selects an SEC East team, but it looks like this year, it might be LSU to the Outback, and South Carolina to the CapOne Bowl.

Bowls are based on (1) ticket sales, (2) keeping corporate sponsors happy and, then (3) match-up.

Best case for the Big Ten is a close win by OSU over MSU, and a loss by NIU, and the #11 team right behind MSU in the ratings....leaving MSU in the top 14 and in the Rose Bowl....and OSU to the NCG.

I think that South Carolina will make it clear to the Outback that they do not want a return trip again this year, and the Outback will swap with the Cotton and grab LSU or maybe Johnny Footballs bunch.

My preference is Iowa in the Outback vs
1. A & M....huge audience will tune in to see Manziel, and their defense is porous. Iowa can employ their Raider defense the whole game and keep hitting Johnny hard...he is listed as the #11 pick in the NFL mock drafts so he will not want to get hurt, and will stay in the pocket...Iowa has a shot at them.

2. LSU- No Metzenburg at QB means a talented frosh starts for LSU...vet defense could confuse the raw QB...and LSU brings a good audience and a fun fanbase.

3. South Carolina- best team in the bunch, probably ranked around #7 overall, so huge win if Iowa pulls it off, but not likely to win this game.....Shaw is a mobile and good throwing qb....and Clowney is good. Pass.

Not sure exactly what you are asking...are you talking about the arrangements in the future? If so, it will help a MN some years by default cuz say Iowa went to Outback twice in a five year span, and they are both in mix in year six, Outback gets MN

So basically it's Delany-imposed welfare for teams like Rodentsota with crappy fan support.

We'll be getting the shaft on this one.

from another source (LSU)

If Auburn Loses

BCS teams Mizzou/Bama

Scenario 1
Cap one Auburn
Cotton LSU
Outback USCe

Scenario 2
Cap one USCe
Cotton Auburn
Outback LSU

Scenario 3
Cap one USCe
Cotton Auburn
Outback UGA
Chicken or Gator LSU

other scenarios could put aTm in cotton but I doubt that happens

I think Scenario 3 is very unlikely because I don't see the outback passing over us for UGA

Auburn beats Mizzou

Auburn/Bama BCS teams

Scenario 1
Cap one USCe
Cotton LSU
Outback Mizzou

Scenario 2
Cap one USCe
Cotton Mizzou
Outback LSU

Scenario 3
Cap one MIzzou
cotton LSU
Outback USCe

Scenario 4
Cap one USCe
Cotton Mizzou
Outback UGA
Chicken or Gator LSU

Again I think Scenario 4 is very unlikely but possible

I would say Scenario 1 is the most likely
Scenario 2 2nd most likely
Scenario 3 3rd most likely but almost 2nd.

As was said in the prediction thread

LSU's chances in rank of Order for bowl games goes like this

#1 Cotton
#2 Outback
#3 Chicken
#4 Gator

3 and 4 are very unlikely
1 and 2 are very likely

Agree with this! The Aggies seemed particularly vulnerable to the power run up the middle in the game w/ Mizzou. They looked a lot like Nebby actually, except Johnny Football was a lot more mobile than K3. MO had success late in that game running straight at them and the Tigers are not built for that kind of offense. I think this match up would likely bring in the most $$ for the Outback and, again, the match up is really good - two teams w/ very similar records. Historically the Outback is the second most watched NYD bowl and if big TV audiences are important for recruiting then this will put Iowa on the map for many in Texas which is being recruited by GD.

Possibly, but it depends on who Iowa is up against for a bowl bid. Yes Iowa travels well but Iowa is not good for the ratings. Schools like Michigan, Nebraska, Penn State, and Ohio State get better ratings and have fans that travel to bowls well. So against those schools Iowa might benefit from input from the league.

Bowl committee's biggest concern is selling tickets and hotel rooms. They want people coming to their town and dropping lots of dough. TV networks care more about ratings, but they get less say.

I think the league is looking to be more appealing to bowl cities, as well as to jury-rig better matchups.
Jury-rig? Dang man we always play up. If that does not smell a rat, i dont know what does.
How many times in the number of bowls we've been in were we higher ranked? That is the question i ask to thee.

How would we ever get the shaft? Our only SEC bowl defeat in the BCS era was when a crappy 7-5 team faced 10-win Florida in the Outback Bowl, when they passed up Michigan for us. Shoot, has there ever been a year where we missed out on a bowl because the one we qualified for wanted a "big name"? We got our Orange Bowl when we weren't exactly assured of it. From what I hear we got closer to the Cap One before ever dipping below Michigan or Nebraska. This is not anything we need to worry about, like ever.

Furthermore, I cannot WAIT to improve our record vs the SEC to 5-1. It'll probably be closer to the LSU and Missouri games than the first Florida matchup and South Carolina, but we will do this.
