"Espn greatest 150 coaches list'

1. Ferentz should be on the list considering some of the coaches who made the list.
2. Urban Meyer, as much as I hate him, is way too low.
 
Saban is 151-23 in his 13 years at Alabama.

Take out his lost 6 losses in 2007 (his first year), and he's lost 17 games in 12 years.

I don't have time to go through the entire list and do background on the names that I should know more about.

But...Hayden not only turned around a dead IOWA program, he changed the Big Ten conference in the days when it was Woody, Bo and then everybody else, broke down the color barrier in the old Southwest conference, has arguably the the most impressive coaching tree in college football, is in the college football Hall of Fame and ranks 43rd all time in wins.

Wins alone should put him near the Top 50. When you take into account the other accomplishments...I can't imagine how he's not ranked that high.

You can make a strong case for Synder being #1. What he did at KSU was insane. I'd put that up against what any coach has done at a blueblood program that has a name that does a majority of the recruiting.
 
Barry Switzer deserves to be higher than 13th, and definitely deserves to be higher than Tom Osborne.

He also has a super bowl ring. Perhaps his relatively short head coaching career, and snaky reputation, worked against him. Nobody, NOBODY, was a better recruiter than Barry Switzer.

Wow , way too much for Barry. He coached at a total blue blood program so didnt even have to work to get talent there. Then you bring up the pros and he coached at one of the top nfl teams so again didnt have to do too much. I saw him make some bone head in game coaching decisions when he was at the cowboys.
 
Just another list by some writer or writers who think they know something. I like everyone's comments but I didnt look at the list as it probably is way off. I agree that what Bill Snyder did at KState is amazing. Think about it but KState was for 20+ years way worse that Iowa was from 1963-1978. Snyder had them winning big and often and a chance for a Nattty Champ game.

I dont know who was ahead of Fry but I agree he was a trailblazer and just a super coach.

Cant add anything about KF as his 8-4 avg taking over a team that was down for only a year is not a huge accomplishment but steady coaching.
