A large part of the problem for Gatens, May and really anyone who has put on a Iowa uniform in the last few years has been lack of talent around them. Go back to when Jake Kelly as a freshman was a one man band because of no supporting cast. Expectations of fans, especially for in-state kids, is off the charts because of lack of perspective or basing expectations on high school numbers. May was never going to be "the guy", but with better talent around him and a healthy back, he has become a leader on a young team and someone who gives maximum effort every night. Hopefully we see the same sense of urgency from McCabe and Basabe next year.
