Enjoy it while it lasts, fellas

Looks like JP is going #allin to take the program to the next level. There really is only #onewayforward and the Cyclones have figured it out. Pretty soon you won't be able to drive 5 miles without seeing a Cyclone state billboard.

I can't make it through a TV program now without seeing a Choose Your Adventure ad for Iowa State. It's only a matter of time before they siphon off all of the Chicagoland kids who currently go to Iowa. It is my understanding that ISU currently has more young Iowans enrolled than ANY OTHER SCHOOL IN THE WORLD. I suspect Iowa State will be bigger than Ohio State in 10 years and so the stadium expansion seems like a no brainer at this point.

With their academic requirements, all the meth heads in Iowa can attend a major university. I hear they have a solid chemical engineering program. They are building something special up there.

I know Saban's agent said he would only leave Bama for Texas, I think we can add one more to that list. The question is does ISU even want him?

What happened the last time the coach of North Texas got a head job in the State of Iowa? Maybe ISU should look down there. Surely, they can find a guy down there who can get them ranked.

No way, CPR is the goodest coach ever. They only need a new OC. Maybe Saban could come coach the Special Teams, but he can't have the Defense either. Wally is a wizard. They will probably get Chip Kelly as OC now that the stadium is going to be top 5 in the country. Just look at that scoreboard! And have you heard the sirens?

Oh, well this explains why ISU has struggled for so long. It's because their stadium wasn't bowled in.

Barta better do something big. And soon.

“A lot of 17 and 18-year olds buy with their eyes. The excitement associated with stadium expansion and stadium enhancement, to see that physical growth actually taking place, absolutely it will have an impact on recruiting.”

Here's a quote from Roads in that article:

Growing up in this state, growing up around Iowa State football and Iowa State University, if there is one thing that the fans have always craved for it is bowling in and closing in that south end zone. They are going to get their wish.

Must fan bases want bowl games or conference titles, not ISU, they just want their stadium bowled in. So from ISU fan perspective, this season was another huge success for Rhoads.

What's funny is I swear that at some point in the late '80's they actually reduced the capacity of the stadium. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I thought they had some janky bleachers somewhere they actually pulled out because they were so bad.

You see, I am a native Iowan and I know how big of a turd sammich Iowa State football is and how big of a turd sammich it will always be. That endzone is going to be just like the end zone in Champaign, sparsely filled even with steeply discounted tickets. Sure, some clown fan with a sub 85 IQ will like the novelty of being in that new section of seating for a few years. And season tickets will be $49 in years Iowa doesn't play there. Then, as the program continues along its historical trend line, they will sell like 8 tickets down there. Finally, in about 2022 or so, they will take the Jim Phillips approach to revenue maximization and put a tarp with a logo on it over those seats. That tarp will come off every other year when Iowa comes to town. Hell, Northwestern was ranked in the top 20 and they had entire sections tarped off.
