End of regular season, IOWA-Northwestern game prediction

Last game of the regular season, senior night, revenge factor, seeding for BTT and NCAA Tournament.
Everything is big for Saturday, how does the team play. I would think they'll be as up for this game as any all year. I expect Gabe and JO both get the start along with Aaron White. I'm predicting Iowa runs away with it. IOWA-79 Northwestern 56.

Will O'Keefe be present?
 
I see hawks winning by 12 but in a lower scoring affair since JNW will play that zone and try to slow the pace. I see 68-56 Hawks but if nJW does not shoot well or hawks turn them over and get running then it could be 78-56.

I have not seen the hawks perform greatly on SR days but they did have that big win over Purdue in Fran's 2nd year.

Actually it's Senior morning I think. 11AM start?

I don't know that I've correctly picked an Iowa game all season. I gave up awhile ago.

That was his first year, Northwestern actually beat us on Gatens' senior day his second year. I think we win by 10 but it might be closer than we would like up until the end.
 
defense, defense, and more defense...if Demps gets off, I'll be really surprised. He stoke would have to be perfect because I expect our guards will be squeezing him pretty tight.
 
Huge day for the Seniors....Iowa 71, jNW 58, Iowa wins #6 in a row, heads into the BTT w/ a lot of steam, and ultimately wins the BTT...Mike Wilbon and Dan Dakich are in attendance, and hand Fran the BTT trophy....hey, I can dream a little, right???

My point being is that Iowa is playing some damn good ball right now, with a lot of momentum....fun to watch....now kick Olah's a$$...

A 30-point ass kicking certainly is in order -- and could happen -- but I'm predicting it will be a slugfest with the Purple Mildcats hitting a few key threes to keep it close. But I think Aaron will do what he does best -- get them in foul trouble and get points from the line. I have Iowa by 12 in this one.

I'd also like to see the boys get a little more physical with their goofy center, Oaf. Knock him around a little bit, keep him off balance, push him out away from the basket.

wow time flies, and who was the Iowa big man who had a great game that day 5 years ago on his senior day?

Carver was really charged up that day, I dont get to carver too much anymore but I was there with wife, both kids and their spouses.
 
Full court press the entire game and name the score...Iowa by more than 20. If we decide to let them dribble it up the floor it could be less than 20 but it should be a zero stress game. NW can't break a frantic end of game full court press. Come out with it from the start and use it until the game is way out of hand. Plus they are gassed from the Michigan game. So even if they get some easy baskets we will wear them down by halftime.

NW is playing pretty well and is the last team to beat us, so I am not taking this one lightly. That said, our guys are on a roll and I don't think they'll let us down in this one.

Iowa - 74
NW - 60
 
I am only cautiously optimistic. NW has been playing their best ball over the same time frame as us. I really hope we can establish the pace/style of play. Don't want to play their game. If we can do that, I feel better.

Need to also stay mentally tough if it turns into a dogfight. Just win. We don't have to blow them out.

Yeah, I don't get the overconfidence here, but I'm sure NW has the team's respect. Just want to get to the first half 12 minute timeout in good shape. Senior Day always has that weird vibe. Would love a blowout, but NW will come in confident they can play with us.
