Emely Rodiguez?

Emely wasn't on the bench for the last game. Jan was asked if she was still with the team and Jan as of right now she is. Anybody hear anything about this.

It doesn't feel good at all... Jans body language as she was saying it too just didn't feel like things are going well at all. My two cents worth of a guess is Emely isn't with the team and hasn't been practicing or anything for the last couple weeks and when the portal comes open next she's going to be in it.

If what she has going on is a day-day minor back issue then her attending home games shouldn't be a problem. Something else is going on too whatever it is.

It's too bad. I was hoping she woulda been the 6th woman X factor off the bench for us this yr and maybe start her last two yrs. She's clearly talented and skilled. She plays like a wild mustang out there that needs to be reigned in some. But she's gotta be open to that too. Maybe her and coaches are butting heads it's hard to say.

If she doesn't stick around, it's not the end of the world for the Hawks, but it's a loss.
After one of the games, I noted she's one of the few players -- other than Chit Chat the ONLY player, really -- on Iowa's team that can 'get her own shot' -- meaning when the offense breaks down and the shot clock is low, she can break down the defense and get a decent shot on her own. Elite teams have that type of player on their roster, and she's a potential difference-maker in that way.

I just figured she got her first taste of Iowa blizzards and neg temps and said "hell no". This is about the time she want missing from the team or on the bench. Makes sense to me.

Yeah, probably a bunch of stuff. Homesick, midwest weather (coldest, snowiest December in a while), injury, coming off the bench, being coached hard for the first time. That would be a lot to absorb and deal with all at once.

Maybe she comes out the other side a Hawk, and a stronger person. Maybe it is too much at this point, and she can be happier and more successful at U of Miami. Best of luck to her in figuring things out, and hopefully we are giving her all of the support she needs.

Hey I never moved back to Iowa due to that so if it's too much it's too much for a southern kid I'll never blame anyone for that either. I take my hats off to those even willing to give it a try.

How many years you been gone! Yea, I actually think she's from the Dom Republic. Did she play in Miami area?

The murky situation surrounding the status of Iowa women’s basketball forward Emely Rodriguez finally has a bit of clarity to it. On3’s Talia Goodman reported on Thursday afternoon that the former UCF transfer is “suspended indefinitely” for a violation of team rules and will not travel with the team to New York for the Women’s Champions Classic. Goodman says that sources tell her Rodriguez has the opportunity to rejoin the team if she “recommits to the standards” of the program.
