Iowa had momentum coming into this 2022 NCAA tournament. They were the pick of many to not just get to the Sweet 16 but many had them going to the Final Four. This could have been a huge recruiting advantage. Well, they shit the bed and pretty much dampered any recruiting advantage they gained throughout the season. I mean you have the player of the year and a top 4 team in scoring efficiency and you can't beat a 12 seed team, C'MON!!
 
well in the ncaa tournament its a crap shoot - just another example

plus we dont have a track record of playing well in this thing.

Richmond didnt have a ton to do with this...they shot like dog crap all first half too. Sometimes a high seed comes in and shoots the lights out and you can understand that...... This was ALL on Iowa, players and coaches. That looked as inept as the Oregon loss last year. Not inspired.....just confusing what went on out there? Oh and Keegan...yeah he'd better come back and work on some things.

NO, IT DOESN'T MATTER. AND FOR THE RECORD, ILLINOIS IS THE BIG TEN CHAMPION. IOWA IS THE BIG TEN TOURNAMENT CHAMPION.

GOOD COACHES FIGURED OUT A FEW YEARS AGO THAT IT IS BETTER TO NOT BLOW YOUR LOAD IN THE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT UNLESS YOU HAVE SOME UTTERLY SHIT STACKED DEEP TEAM THAT IS LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF EVERYONE, WHICH IS WHY YOU SAW TEAMS LIKE AUBURN OR ILLINOIS JUST SAY "SCREW IT" WHEN THE TOURNAMENT CAME AROUND AND YOU SEE TEAMS LIKE IOWA PLAY LIKE THEY ARE IN GAME 7 OF THE NBA FINALS FOUR STRAIGHT DAYS AND THEN BURN ALL THEIR ENERGY FOR THE RUN THAT ACTUALLY MATTERS.

vs Richmond: 6 pts

He's made some big shots in his career, but he's been woefully ineffective in the big dance. Aside from just missing shots, opposing NCAA tourney coaches put a tough defender on him so he just disappears for long periods.
