Ellingson crow actually tastes good

I had it deep-fried. Not bad.

Wow, Ellingson was terrific against Ohio State.

This team has a lot of interesting pieces for the future.

I like him too but then OSU's defense was atrocious and he was left open a lot. He'll have guys in his grill more often and then let's see how he responds.

Or, in the alternative, the Iowa offense did an excellent job of screening for him and he was working like a dog to get open and shoot. Why is it that I keep reading excuses for Iowa winning or a player doing well? Of course, if Brady gets more attention in the scouting reports, they will play him tougher. duh.

Pay no attention to the L(ost) A(gain) Dodger. Bradyson is getting much stronger (due to waxing Buster Posey's 72 Malibu on a weekly basis) and should soon be hitting game winning three's (while standing on 1 leg) on a regular basis.

I admit that i usually groan when Ellingson comes into the game. I too am enjoying the crow. I like mine with a little hot sauce.

He's shooting 53.7% from 3. And he didn't take all 41 of those attempts against Ohio State. Also, I remember one from the Ohio State game (1st one maybe) where the guy played perfect defense and he just nailed it.

He had a good game and it was fun to watch. I don't anticipate that he can do that night in and night out though. He's still a slow unathletic white guy. He's extremely dependent upon being open and having his feet set to shoot. Nothing wrong with that but since the PG he plays with isn't exactly a drive and dish type he has to rely on the ball getting kicked back out to him by the bigs after they either receive a post entry touch or offensive board. So the good looks Ellingson gets are circumstantial and you can't count on getting a ton of good looks like that. He's not nearly as able to run off screens like Jok is to get open let alone create his own shot in the half court. That said I like what he brings. I'm just not going to have unrealistic expectations for his game.

He's a role player. And he knows his role. I do think he will get some open looks because we have so many weapons. Even if the scouting report says not to let him have room to shoot his unassuming appearance works to his advantage. An opposing player is more likely to drop down and double Cook leaving Brady open.

Regardless, he's making 53.7% from 3 and attempting just under 2 per game. A lot of games are decided by 3 points or less so I will take that...knowing there will be variance from game to game.

Note - I also like having him on the court late in games. He stays calm and is only 18 out of 18 from the line.

There were a few closer games we had where I don't think neither he or Moss were in the game late and that really surprised me. Those two are good free throw shooters along with JBo and Jok. Why they'd have a Cook/Pemsl/Baer any of those 3 in instead pretty much had me scratching my head. I think he'll continue to get some looks but the words out on him to not leave him open like it is on Jok and JBo I would think. That's why I like the uptempo aspect of what Fran likes to do. Getting looks in transition is huge for a guy like him getting a good look too. Half court just isn't going to be this groups strength until our bigs can do a better overall job of both scoring and passing from the post. Not to mention our guards being able to dribble drive. Jok has done that a little bit but JBo don't do that much and Moss and occasionally Baer are the only others capable of it....

dang, I missed this thread...I should have made the passing comment here. But, seriously, did you all see his sick passes he made tonight?
I have said that I thought he would be good as a PG. Good ball handler, good decision maker, great FT shooter and a good facilitator.

Pretty dang solid game from the two short, slow, limited, unathletic guards tonight.

Make that two consecutive dang sold games.

Crow buffet!

Stay hot kid and stay aggressive. Props to Brady.

Boy would it be fun to see this Brady on the floor at the same time as a healthy Jok and JBo. Talk about some fire power from 3.
